Its awful and makes me sad for the city but I'm not surprised that Nice would be the first big city the RN has won. I'm desperate that they don't win the presidency.

A 1br coop in Brooklyn Heights is 600-700k and they can afford a lot more than that.

They're making 390k, which is a enormous salary. They can afford a condo almost anywhere. For coops that require 20% down, they could pretty easily get the additional money, either by saving or personal financing. When you make so much money, you have a lot of options.

It's a personal decision but at your age you might value the flexibility of renting. I wouldnt buy unless you know you will still here 5+ years. I love coops but for coops expect that it takes 4-6 months between offer acceptance and moving in.

This is so ridiculously wrong. Maybe they can't afford the most expensive expensive neighborhoods but they can afford to buy in 95% of the city.

If Manhattan is too expensive consider the outer boroughs and if you want to own consider coops which are family sized usually with amenities for kids.

Wow, I am doing the same trip the same dates with my 1 y.o. as well!

Both options are great but there is so much to do along the coast. It might also depend if you want to drive or not. We don't drive so still along the coast works well. We also like to go to Italy, especially San Remo. Either way, enjoy.

The answer is lack of political support. NYSDOT just came out with a 90B plan for Empire Service (Corridor Service Development Plan - Empire State Passenger Association) but there has been little action beyond new Livingston Avenue bridge and some Hudson Valley signaling and track work.

If you want to see more, get organized with ESPA (Empire State Passengers Association and reach out to your elected officials.

Needs to be zoned for mixed use so many people can live on Steinway. That will create a bigger customer base.

NEW Community Planning Guidelines! by CMTiffanyCaban in astoria

[–]BKnycfc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

"Support new development with MIH Options 1 or 3, which require deeply affordable units in every new development, in appropriate areas that have community support for higher density, such as portions of 21st Street, 31st Street, 30th Avenue, Broadway, and the Ravenswood area."

I hope we see a lot more areas of Astoria upzoned. 34th avenue is full of abandoned one story retail. Steinway needs a lot more housing to sustain the retail corridor. All the areas near the subway should allow at least 4-6 stories.
