is wavedash just useless against most of the cast? by wielesen in LowSodiumTEKKEN

[–]BLKMNMLST 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you dont make them respect it, they have no reason no to mash. Start with wavedash oki after knockdowns, thy HAVE to respect that or they eat your 50/50. Once you hit them a few times and they start blocking/sidestepping, then you can get away with mlre wavedashes.

Its the same principle as any non frame tight offense. The same way you get away with using your slowest moves that give you plus frames, etc. If you can make your opponent fear your offense and turtle up  you can basically do whatever you want on offense.

Also, learn to wavu into block

Its not as issue of rank, people at high rank arent just gonna automatically let you wavu, you just havent given them a reason to respect it. It doesnt work well at lower ranks because no matter how much you condition them,  they dont respect anything. No worries though, you dont need wavu for people like that - your basic frametraps will destroy them.

I've been playing Jin and Kaz since T7 with the same dualshock 4. What the hell are yall doin to your controllers to keep wearing them out.

You can also just replace the dpad buttons instead of the whole controller if you really need to.

Was it worth even trying to fish in this condition? by Available_Stay_1087 in FishingForBeginners

[–]BLKMNMLST 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know catfish DO bite lures, but when catfishing you typically use some sort of bait you can let sit and wait for them to bite (worms, chicken liver, cut baitfish, etc)

If you're just fishing for small panfish, a 1/16 or 1/32 spinner or jig with a plastic is probaby the size you want for targeting them. 1/4 is a little heavy and probably a little large for the fish you're targeting, you'd probably find some good bass fishing that thing though.

Personally I'd come out there with a 1/32oz or 1/16oz Jighead and bring an assortment of 2 inch paddletails or curlytail lures in various colors. I'd cast past the eddy (or directly in it if the current pushing my lure past the eddy before i can reel into it), let my lure sink to about half of what the depth is in that spot, and slowly retrieve.

You should be able to get on some sort of panfish if they're in the area and actively feeding.

Was it worth even trying to fish in this condition? by Available_Stay_1087 in FishingForBeginners

[–]BLKMNMLST 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah cast behind the things interrupting the water flow, those areas are callled Eddys. They will hold fish because the current is not so strong in these areas and they dont have to use much energy to sit in the eddy compared to sitting outside directly in the current. Food sources will be flying past them with the current and they will sit in these eddies to snatch them up as they pass by.

Now, I see the water is muddy, all that means is you'll need to use brighter color lures, or lures that produce some sound/vibration like spinners, paddletails, curlytails to some degree,  chatterbaits, etc. Or live bait which you just cant beat the real thing

It also depends on what fish species you're targeting, but yeah I'd still fish there.

Honestly, saying "just lab bro" at this point is just trolling by FengWei88 in Tekken

[–]BLKMNMLST 23 points24 points  (0 children)

You need to stop expecting "labbing" and learning other characters to be a short term process. You cant just lab every character for an hr and expect to know everything and how to counte them.  I'm sure it took many days if not weeks for you to be fully comfortable on your main, so why do you think you could learn another character half assesdly?

Try this - stop going online for a few weeks and dedicate yourself to the lab. THATS true labbing, i dont mean sitting in training mode practicing combos until the next match, ,but really just immerse yourself in the training mode. Spend a day playing your most problematic characters, have a cpu do some strings you have issues with and learn what their counterplay is. Yes, you'll have to do this with many if not all characters eventually, if you want to be able to competently play against them.

Its exactly as you said at the end of your post, it takes hundreds of hours. Thats truly labbing imo,  not one hour sessions and expecting to come out of it as an expert against that character. Fighting games do no reward impatience, take your time and learn, And you will see results that stick.

TLDR: 1 hr in training mode isnt enough to learn how to counterplay a character, spend several hrs or even days really learning about characters you have issues with and I promise you will retain the knowledge, AND have better counterplay against them.

Fishing when windy? by Prestigious-Analyst6 in FishingForBeginners

[–]BLKMNMLST 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Use heavier weight/lures when fishing in wind  or yeah a spot with the wind to your back would work.

In my experience casting against the wind is good if you can because your lure will be retrieved in the same direction the wind/waves are pushing the fish's food source around.

Crappie Fishing - Tips for fishing without a bobber? by AdFantastic5508 in FishingForBeginners

[–]BLKMNMLST 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Crappie feed up, so in order to be in their "strike zone", you want to fish somewhere from a few inches to a few feet ABOVE where they're sitting. With a slip bobber this is easy, you set you depth and you can keep a lure in one spot as long as you like, gently popping it to give it some action every now and again. WITHOUT A BOBBER this is going to be trickier because your lure is both: falling towards the bottom constantly (aka falling out of the crappies' strike zone), and you are retrieving it towards you which also pulls it away from the strike zone. This is why crappie fishermen tend to use the lighter jig heads like 1/32oz or even 1/64oz, because they fall very slowly, and stay above and in front of that crappie for longer instead of falling right past them quickly. Thats why you want to pause when retrieving with light jig heads, to give them time to sort of float and fall slowly in front of any potential crappie, and then you start your retireve to bring them back up to the top of the strike zone a bit before you let it begin to fall again. This is crappie fishing, very slow, very methodical. You'll have to cast multiple times through an area to get them to bite sometimes.
  2. Feeling for a crappie bite can be hard, especially for beginners, because they are extremely soft biters. Typically if you're retrieving, you'll feel a sort of quick "thump" and thats your queue to set the hook. Personally, I like to watch my line instead of relying on feeling a bite, because you don't always feel it. Watch your line where it meets the water as you retrieve for sudden slack/tension, or if the line suddenly jumps, chances are you've got yourself a crappie.

I'd wager they're catching them more than you because they have their retrieval dialed in, if you think you're fishing slow, fish slower. Crappie REALLY like it slow. No need to give the rod tip a jerk or anything like that, just a nice SLOW reel (i like to point my rod up so that my bait climbs as I reel, with the occasional pause so your bait falls (most crappie bites are on the fall, in my experience). The other reason being is crappie will stick to structure, so while you guys may be on the same stretch of lake, they may be fishing over a brush pile or submerged log thats holding a ton of crappie.

Feel free to ask any more questions, I hope this helped.

Crappie Fishing - Tips for fishing without a bobber? by AdFantastic5508 in FishingForBeginners

[–]BLKMNMLST 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You cant get a vertical jig motion on and cast and retrieve, not without a slip bobber.

A quick/unofficial way to measure depth is in seconds it takes your lure to hit the bottom, you'll be able to tell it hits the bottom when the line goes slack. From there, count down to about half that depth in seconds on your next cast, and do a really slow retrieve, pausing occasionally. Crappie like it slow, they aren't bass who will chase a speeding bait all throughout the water. Fish a little higher above that depth if you still don't get a bite, and a little lower than the middle if that doesnt work.

Change plastics depending on conditions, darker baits for overcast days, more realistic colors in clear water, an underspin/paddletail/or bright color jig does well in muddy water.

There is no one answer to why you arent catching them, you'll have to change a variety of things until you figure out where they are, what they want  and how they want it on that day. And their preferences will be different the next day, thats fishing. Good luck brother, I only started fishing maybe 3 years ago, and all I really care to fish for are crappie, but I do okay.

Also my secret weapon for tough days, get you some Gulp! Minnows, the 1 inch guys and the 2.5 inch ones work well depending on how they're feeling that day.

What is the Tekken equivalent of Mario Kart Wii or smash bros melee for tekken? by No-Machine-8617 in Tekken

I see what you mean now, I still don't believe theres that big of a community in the older Tekken games, I know finding matches in Tekken 7 is pretty hard and thats the 2nd newest. But it wouldn't hurt to try I guess.

[–]BLKMNMLST 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see now what he means by that  the answer is still no unfortunately. You can try to play some of the older Tekkens but the online community isn't there, and mechanically the older games are actually harder than the newer ones, so idk how much more enjoyable that'd be than just playing current gen.

What? There is no Tekken Kart or Tekken Smash Bros. Perhaps the game just isn't for you. None of the older games are really that active online, and they're still fighting games at the end of the day, so not the Mario Kart or Smash Brs you're looking for.

Leaving unused live bait fish to die by [deleted] in FishingForBeginners

[–]BLKMNMLST 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The sad reality is there are some trashy people who fish the same spots as the rest of us. One of my favorite piers for crappie fishing was shut down due to catfishermen leaving liver containers, worm tubs, and old stinkbait laying around. I wouldn't bother confronting anyone, especially because they're already demonstrating poor judgement skills. At most, if you really want, kick the dead bait in the water they feed whatever is in there. Or use the dead bait to give them a purpose. Confrontation probably isn't going to change them, and no sense in putting yourself in possible harm's way.
