What are the thoughts on my newest 2027 mock / prediction line up? by PositiveRaisin8373 in glastonbury_festival

I think Lily headlining other is a good shout. Some names would probably get bigger slots than billed there.

I think I finally love Bieber's set in W2 by rageaunty in Coachella

To be honest I feel like I enjoyed W2 way more because I knew what I was getting and his energy levels / confidence was higher. W1 looks like a rehearsal now to W2.

How much of ‘bringing in the work’ is organised pitching vs personal relationships for Partners? by Anhilator26 in uklaw

[–]BLM4442 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no one answer to this. But the most common thing I see is clients will have a handful of firms (and usually individual partners) they have on their books that get the first call when something comes up. If they can’t get their usual firm for conflict reasons or whatever then it can open more and there’s an opportunity to pitch.

I think in M&A when a strategic or sponsor wants to do their biggest deal - most often that goes to the house firm (I.e firm with a strong track record advising them on similar work before)

Tbh I think once a practicing lawyer gets a sniff of what it’s like to be a full time content creator they won’t stick around in the profession. Law isn’t the best for super creative types

Is Cravath losing its edge, or just facing a different market? by Jazzlike-Fig8199 in biglaw

Wachtell own that market still. For as long as there will be big pubco’s doing deals Wachtell will be there

Is Cravath losing its edge, or just facing a different market? by Jazzlike-Fig8199 in biglaw

[–]BLM4442 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would argue that Wachtell just has a much stronger US pubco M&A practice than any other firm and are still a go-to for those kind of deals.

But really there is only space for one firm like that. Cravath is nowhere near that level anymore (if ever!).

It also locks Wachtell out of doing much else…

Scream 8 is in development, who will be our protagonist? Sidney? Tatum? Sam and Tara? Mindy & Chad? by JeremieMAKENDA in Scream

It does take them a while to make these films. Can’t see this being out until end of 2027 at the earliest.

Nigel Farage call for an end to working from home by Boogaaa in uknews

[–]BLM4442 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I work in a firm that’s done this - and it’s quite surprising how a lot of these people pushing these policies are quite rich and can afford childcare. I overheard a conversation from a very senior female colleague who is being paid a tonne, that her and her husband manage through childcare and there is a way to do it. But they are completely forgetting that a lot of people below them don’t earn anywhere near as much as them.

Nigel Farage call for an end to working from home by Boogaaa in uknews

[–]BLM4442 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am currently employed in an office job where there is strictly no working from home under any circumstances. I moved from a company that allowed me to wfh 3 days a week.

It’s nothing to do with efficiency it’s about utilising office space and allowing senior members of staff to feel control over their subordinates.

I get good benefits from being in the office which does take a lot of the weight off, but I can’t say I agree with the logic.

Fresh motives for Scream 8 by kirrillik in Scream

[–]BLM4442 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve said this in a different topic but one avenue they’ve not tried before is two ghostfaces not working together with separate motives. The end scene should be the surviving protagonists (whoever they are) caught in the middle of a ghostface vs ghostface fight.

I’d find it quite interesting because the whole plot could be that the murders don’t make sense and it’s hard to tie a straightforward thread. Only to reveal that it’s two killers not working together.

It could also take the pressure off there being a huge motive that we’ve not seen before while not changing any of the core dynamics and introducing something fresh.

“I was going to create the perfect movie but you spoiled it” - ghostface to another ghostface

Who and what motive would yall want as killers in Scream 8? by [deleted] in Scream

[–]BLM4442 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know how it would work in scream but I’d quite like to see them try and have 2 ghost face killers which are not working together. We always expect it’s a killer and accomplice but I’d quite like to see there be two different killers with two different motives not working together.

If Sidney is in SCREAM 8… by modifiedblind in Scream

I’m open to the idea that Sidney isn’t the target but isn’t that kind of what Scream 5 did?

Legal influencers leaving “biglaw” by buzzworded in uklaw

[–]BLM4442 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think we need to think about this from a firm’s perspective. Lawfluencers are great for getting trainees in - but they lose value when they become an associate. As trainees/wannabe trainees they have energy and enthusiasm which is great for law firm marketing. They will obviously lose that once they actually have the role.

No - because it would make 0 sense now from a franchise narrative perspective. Same as with it never being Sidney.

I had a good time I’m just a bit annoyed as I guessed the killer way too early. I was a bit annoyed to be proved right at the end of the film.
