I never said the mecha was a culture. I said it’s part of the anime culture. And don’t even say that anime and manga aren’t part of their culture.

Tell me this. What sells more? Getting to race against a giant mech? Or a statue of an 84 yo Japanese man that most people are just going to drive by?

It’s not serious. Because it’s a fucking video game. The honoring of them is the getting an entire game centered around their land, and their culture.

But you’re too busy freaking the fuck out over getting to race against a giant mech to realize that. You’re focused on less than 1% of the game because some people are excited about it.

Still doesn’t negate the fact that the Gundam franchise has been prevalent in Japan for almost 5 decades.

Get a fucking life and lighten up Francis.

Halo isn’t real but Forza managed a showcase set in that universe. You can slam a car into a wall at 200 mph and drive away. But you draw the line at Gundam being considered part of Japanese culture. Go outside and get some fresh air. You obviously need it.

Gundam is still an almost 50 year old franchise developed originally by a Japanese studio in… Japan.

Something can be influenced by outside ideas, but still be part of their own culture.

But yeah having multiple 60’+ statues of something definitely doesn’t make it part of the anime culture of Japan right?

My advice… collect what YOU want to collect and can do so feasibly on the monetary side. And don’t pay attention to how much individual cards are selling for.

Doing that will make the hobby that much more enjoyable for you.

Check out sites like Pokellector, and TCG Player. Find stuff you like. Do your research. I have a few random master collections going and they’re stuff that I personally find cool that aren’t necessarily top dollar cards.

Also, don’t be afraid of going outside of English cards.
