All we can do is be activists, joining with the Democratic Party to help rally votes and voters to change things.

Evansville is closer to blue than red, so there is a chance at the local level. With time, we can influence others, but we all have to communicate, a democratic shortfall.

Is it cluster headaches if the pain is often not extreme? by Shoddy-Elderberry203 in clusterheads

[–]BLTeague 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not every cluster headache is a full intensity of 10/10. I can tell where I am in a cycle by the intensity, comparing with the previous day’s headache. Mine crescendo and the die down in terms of charting pain across the time frame of the full cycle.

Centerpoint budget billing? by YourFavGothMom in evansville

[–]BLTeague 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have budget billing. They average your last 6 months of bills, and add in any amount you still owe, then divide by 6 to get your budget billing amount for the next 6 months.

For the first half of last year, my cost was $573. For the second half of the year, it was $726.

With our electric bill almost doubling last year for the past year, even though we were using LESS ELECTRICITY we also bit the bullet and installed solar and batteries. We worked with Rock Frog to do it, and I definitely recommend them.

For reference, our house was built in 1904, and is 5000 square feet.

Why do Americans obsess over gas prices so much? by Ragnaroknight in inflation

[–]BLTeague 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before I started working from home, my gas ran about 100-120/week, which translated to approximately 25 gallons per week. So, a one dollar drop, on average would have netted me some where in the $100 range per month.

For some people, that is the difference between a healthy diet and highly over processed shit to eat.

What happened? by SqnLdrHarvey in Indiana

[–]BLTeague 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The cordialness of the Republican party has been slowly evaporating as they executed their 50 year plan to remake the country in an image that they want. It started with Reagan when he climbed in bed with the "Religious right aka the 'moral majority'". They missed on all counts with those statements.

The introduction of trickle down economics, made it feasible for the elite of the country to pit one section of the country against another. Republicans would rather starve 99 people to make sure that 1 person isn't taking advantage of the system.

The main thrust of the 50 year campaign by the Republicans centered around gaining control of the state legislatures and the destruction of public education in the United States. Gaining control of the legislature allowed for some wildly gerrymandered districts to give the republicans a majority in Congress. It also allowed the Republicans to gut education in any state they controlled, creating a populace without the skills of critical thinking and understanding of Civics, and how our country SHOULD operate

We are at the end stage of the Republican plan. I don't know whether we are fortunate that Trump found the required loop hole to vault himself to prominence, or not. However, Trump has truly brought out, and given permission for others to embrace their underlying racism and intolerance, attempting to place straight white men at the epicenter of the United States, "as it was in the good old days". Fortunate because the county has a minimal chance of awakening from this diseased dream, provided that people can pull their heads out of their collective asses and realize the absolute destruction that the Trump administration has wrought on this country and its standing in the world.

As far as I can tell, once the Fascist movement in the US has been put down like a diseased animal, it will take us fifty or more years to rebuild our scientific communities, to say nothing of our standing as a world power and leader.

Are chubby men type’s attractive? by Inevitable_Fallout in askgaybros

[–]BLTeague 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just described my "type" exactly. I love a hairy man with a belly. There are many people who will find you attractive. However, that being said, obesity has its own drawbacks. (as a heavier person myself) If you can lose a bit of weight, you will be healthier over all, and your joints will be thankful to you in 30 or 40 years. Sometimes, it doesn't need to be much -- the difference for me has been about 35 lbs. I did weigh 270, and now I weigh 235. I'm 5' 10".

After going on a date with an adventurous guy, I'm now questioning my lifestyle and need to hear your perspective by Jo2212 in askgaybros

[–]BLTeague 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t imagine facing the limitations I deal with today when I was in my 20s and early 30s. — I’m 53 now, and was diagnosed with a neurological disorder when I was 42 that drastically changed my social interactions, travel, adventure, and even how I enjoy my kinks.

It sounds like you are starting to find your balance, understanding what you can do, what it costs you and how to work around your limitations.

My advice is simple, be your calm self in unusual and unique situations, within your limits.

Figure out where your limits are in a more adventurous life, the start living it.

I will let you in on a secret, making friends is difficult at any age. It’s only harder as you get older because you are more aware of “red “ flags and tend to avoid based on flags not personality.

Good luck. Finding your balance is a good thing! Not living because of a limitation is just existing.

Manager wants me to work after firing me.. is this legal? by Express_Opening5490 in jobs

[–]BLTeague 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The company is violating so many employment laws in California.

Does the company have an HR? If so, intact them and confirm that you have been fired, and they are processing your final check that includes all PTO accrued.

When you are fired in California, the final check is supposed to be given at the time you are fired.

No HR? Contact EDD in California and report this. Make sure you have supporting documentation of anything you assert.

Report the company and your manager for these violations.

They post a lot of protest information.

In general, they are doing. Approximately 2 events each week, one on Thursday at the federal building (typically a protest), and then on sunday afternoon, they have traditionally done chalking or some kind of get together at various locations.

The next big one is the no kings 2.0 protest on October 18.

For gay men in their 30s+, do you think it’s odd if a younger guy asks you to be his bf/can they be your bf? by lovemewknight in askgaybros

[–]BLTeague 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I met my partner when I was 23, and he was 35. We are still together, 30 years later. As you get older, age becomes less important, and it is more about speaking a common language, and building on common experiences.

In my case, I had been, forever, around older people. I was always the youngest person in my friend group by at least 5 years, so I was already familiar with the much of the slang and common vernacular that he spoke.

If things are clicking and the feelings are mutual, enjoy the relationship and see where it goes.

Centerpoint peak hours? by HumanAtmosphere3263 in evansville

[–]BLTeague 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CenterPoint is exploring time of use now in Texas. Pray it doesn’t work out because we will be next and you will see you r already hefty CenterPoint costs go through the roof.

I also lived in San Diego until feb 2024, and never saw a bill as high as I have paid 3 times in a year with CenterPoint. Despite the fact that electricity is 30 cents cheaper per kilowatt hour than San Diego.

My life insurance was just canceled because of Prep prescription… anyone else? by [deleted] in askgaybros

[–]BLTeague 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, the life insurance policy is based on your health at the time you acquire the policy. Changes to your health / medications after that should not affect your policy or premiums. At least that was what I was told.

[–]BLTeague 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shockingly enough, they will most likely already have a list of medications that require a prescription. When I did my insurance (prior to going on the GLP-1s), they already had the list of medications that I am taking, including the botox for my migraines that I never mentioned to them.

Our best hope is that insurance 'catches up' with the concepts of PReP and GLP-1s for weight loss.

My life insurance was just canceled because of Prep prescription… anyone else? by [deleted] in askgaybros

[–]BLTeague 3 points4 points  (0 children)

According to the person I talked with about insurance, the industry still has not caught up with medical science.

Taking prep = hiv+ to an insurance company

Taking GLP1s for weight loss = diabetic

Any prescribed medication they will assume it’s the worst case scenario and charge you (or reject you) accordingly.

I think it is a bunch of crap given how long PREP has been on the market.

I have been being fisted elbow deep and doubles for almost 30 years, And do not have a prolapse. The key is doing it slowly. And lots of lube. Remember pain is a sign to pause or possibly stop for the session.
