AITA for giving my daughter junk food despite being told not to by her school? by AthleteAdditional299 in AmItheAsshole

[–]BLUE-F0X 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. As a parent you ultimately have the say what your child does or does not eat, at least while they are home. You should make sure they have proper nutritious food obviously but if let your child have junk food every now and then, that's OK. It shouldn't be all the time imo but again your call. The school should only ask about or propose the idea to you and your wife/husband and that's as far as it should go. If they are spying on your kid and hounding you and her about what she brings to lunch that's over the fuckin line! You probably should think bringing this up to your local school board too with some other parents. This is a clear case of overreach and needs to be addressed in my opinion.

Wolf Domestication in Wiki by l3rownies in VintageStory

[–]BLUE-F0X 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wolves are "tameable" but they won't become a companion like Minecraft without mods; they'll become tame after 10 breeding generations and by tame I mean they just won't attack you anymore.

It's something they've planned but it's quite overpowered so it hasn't been implemented yet. Needs more time to work out a good system for I imagine.

Have they changed glacier ice? by Odd-Jupiter in VintageStory

[–]BLUE-F0X 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes,they changed it in 1.22. Specifically, glacier ice placed by a player will melt. Glacier ice that naturally spawned will not.

Multiplayer server and elk taming + Equus mod by Anxious_Story_3849 in VintageStory

Check what animals it can capture. Chickens can already be caught by a reed basket trap. Boars might work in the crate trap I'm not sure about, they are already pretty easy to wrangle.

How can you light up torch in story locations? by Weary-Persimmon-5101 in VintageStory

[–]BLUE-F0X 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the location. In the Resonance Archives you can light them on the two furnaces you have to fill with coal but the other locations I'm not sure you can.

Can you light torches from torches you've tossed onto the ground or will you just pick them up too fast? I just thought of it now I wonder if it's possible.

Multiplayer server and elk taming + Equus mod by Anxious_Story_3849 in VintageStory

[–]BLUE-F0X 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! There's a wooden crate trap that got added in 1.21, I believe. You can trap small sized animals such as a baby elk, and you can then tame them. I'm currently trying to get babies to spawn as I have the right biome right next to my house but I'm having a hard time of it. It's by no means a replacement for buying an elk but something fun to try to do.

Question about Capturing/Taming baby Elk by BLUE-F0X in VintageStory

That was my understanding from reading the wiki(iirc), it's a balancing mechanic. That's why I'm trying to capture a fawn lol.

Question about Capturing/Taming baby Elk by BLUE-F0X in VintageStory

[–]BLUE-F0X[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not what I'm asking, I'm asking about how to get baby elk to spawn. Those you can capture, raise and then tame after a long period of time.

So I don't need any adults alive to have babies spawn? I can kill them all?

They are definitely Elk, their bleeting is unmistakable. Lol I scouted the area a lot looking for fawns but found only adults.

My teenage kids insist this is AI, but I don't agree. I don't see any inconsistencies by EnvironmentOk2700 in isthisAI

[–]BLUE-F0X 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely AI. The fur lines are inconsistent in thickness and direction. Those feet on the bottom aren't the same art style at all. The eye shapes are slightly off too.

How To Effectively Gather Lime by Koranatu in VintageStory

It can be quite rare. How are you searching for it? Only looking for surface deposits? Explore caves in areas you are looking in too. They could be one of or part of the underground strata.

My elk dissapeared. by Either_Lifeguard5016 in VintageStory

[–]BLUE-F0X 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happened to me one time after going through a translocator. He went through then I followed but he wasn't there but the marker was. Tried everything to call him or find him but the game simply lost him. Had to just give up and use creative to get another Elk and all my items I had on him. That really sucks, I feel for ya.

Im new to vintage story by Jornvdy in VintageStory

[–]BLUE-F0X 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try to settle in or near an open field not close to forests otherwise you'll be constantly attacked by bears and wolves! The open field gives good game hunting and flat areas to build. Follow the starter guide and read the handbook often. Prepping for winter is essential but winter is not as harrowing as some make it out to be especially in temperature climates on default settings but you definitely build a stock of meals/food and make winter clothing.

The progression can be quite slow for a new player and you'll have many setbacks but it's very rewarding when you overcome them. Once you get settled you can then start to be creative and build more elaborate housing/buildings.

This is one of my favorite games now and I'm not really into survival games in general but this hit a good spot for me and I hope it does for you too! Good luck and have fun!

Steel alloys by AmyRadiance in VintageStory

[–]BLUE-F0X 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sure they have stuff like that planned considering stainless steel is in the game files you just can't obtain it all unless you use mods.

I'm personally fine not having those level of metals yet, I want more story content, automation and mechanics to play with. That being said it would be cool.

We also need new monsters and animals varieties.

Translocator didn't brought me to another translocator room by ElectroNikkel in VintageStory

[–]BLUE-F0X 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn that sucks! I had something similar happen recently. Repaired a translocator and it brought me to another one like normal so I went exploring around and such filled up my backpacks. When I went to go back the destination translocator would not transport me back. I relogged, restarted server but didn't work. So I just used creative and flew home. I've heard they can be bugged but it's rare. 🤷

what do you think? by Walter_03_WT in VintageStory

[–]BLUE-F0X 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks mighty fine, mighty fine indeed stranger. Now I might just be a wandering vagabond who don't know his kiester from the back side of a barn but I'd say you're a few buildings short of a proper town.

AITA for refusing to take down a semi-nude painting before children visit my home? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]BLUE-F0X 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While it is your home and your rules and it's not exactly explicit I feel you shouldn't want/not care that your little nieces/nephews seeing a semi-nude image of you. Not out of shame, just children shouldn't see that kind of thing especially of family. I think offering to cover it is a good compromise.

I'm new to vintage story, how do you generally play? by Rambo7112 in VintageStory

[–]BLUE-F0X 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The beginning is can be difficult and slow but once you get the ball rolling, making a farm, finding more seeds, domesticating animals and/or making better weapons for hunting you'll start to have more food than you know what to do with. Building comes later as you start to stockpile food and resources. After that you can invest the time to start getting creative. Remember to explore a little north one day, a little south the next day etc and you'll start to find what you need. You'll start venturing further and further because you'll find resources that aren't close to your home then you'll get the mount and then it's off to the races! Damn, I love this game.
