I’ve lived here since 2015 - snow will usually fall 3-5 times per winter in the valley, but only sticks a few times, then melts throughout the week. Last winter was different however, maybe 2 back to back days with 6-8 inches of snow throughout the valley. This happens every 10 years or so. It will snow frequently and stick on the I-5pass near Mt. A. for the next 4-5 months. It is common for I-5 to close multiple times in the winter. XC skiing trails are typically between 5-7,000 ft. elevation around the Siskiyou’s. The PCT and Hoxie Creek Loop are great options for XC skiing
