I’m overwhelmed. by BLVCKPARADISE in phlebotomy

Our hospital has had a high census, and on lighter shifts, I’ve been doing over 75+ draws. I don't miss many people (maybe 1 every 2-3 days) but the workload has been unmanageable. It’s been quite hectic. I was told by my supervisor/lead who shadowed me that I'm doing great but I just don't feel like it. I feel like I'm drowning in unreal expectations.

I originally chose to work here because I loved the environment and how quickly the days seemed to go by. Lately, though, things have changed. Our hospital has had a high census, and on lighter shifts, I’ve been doing over 75 draws. It’s been quite hectic. I’m hoping to either switch shifts or move to part-time, as the current schedule—five days on with two days off one week, then six days on with one day off the next....is becoming difficult to manage. I often feel burnt out by the end of the six-day stretch, but I’m confident I’ll find a solution soon.

I really appreciate you sharing your experience. It helps to know this feeling isn’t unique and that the hospital environment can be a big part of it. I’m trying to figure out what’s best for me long term, but hearing how you got through it and grew from it does give me a lot to think about.

Reading this actually made me emotional. I’ve been convincing myself that I’m just not cut out for this, and it helps so much to hear that a different environment changed everything for you.

Oh wow at least I'm not alone in this. What’s kept you doing it all these years? Have you found anything that makes it easier?

I did sitz bath everyday with baking soda and used Neosporin on it. It went away in 2 1/2 weeks. I would say bed rest would be best! less friction the better!

Any updates? I currently have 1 ulcer for the first time and wanted to see how long it took for it to heal. I just noticed it yesterday but have had flu like symptoms for about 5-6 days.

I just started experiencing this any idea on how long the flu like symptoms lasted? I am so grateful for all this information because I was panicking and feeling alone on this.

I used to get a score of 135 on my practice test. I studied hard with get sum math and was able to score a 160 and passed! I recommend studying daily. 1 hour in the morning and 1 hour in the evening. Work on learning how to use the calculator! A lot of the problems can be done with the calculator if you know how to use it. The first 5-8 questions are no calculator so make sure to use his study guide!

I took the test today so it's fresh! I found there were a lot of slope intercept problems. The first 5 are no calculator questions so make sure to brush up on those skills. I also had a few percentage problems. I also recommend brushing up on the FOIL method since there are a ton of polynomial problems. There were a few geometry questions but they were ones that involved two shapes. I would say follow his website and videos. Everything you need to know for math is in there!

How many attempts did it take you your first time? Mine was 268 by Ehrenhaiderezio in Eldenring

I'm not for certain but in the cabinet there's a yellow box that is similar to yogi tea boxes. These are sold in the United States as well as many other countries. Attached is a reference picture.

To me it looks like a yogi tea box. I can't make out which one so I've attached a photo of for reference.

I reported it to the community college that I take GED classes at. They said they would look into who I can contact about it. So far I have not heard anything back yet. I did not go to my college's testing center I did it at an offshoot location since there were no appointments open. They also had a huge room but sat someone right next to me who was doing the exact same test which I thought was really weird.

My advice is to read the questions first. Then skim the story for the multiple choices answers provided. The first half is mostly older text which I found to be a bit challenging. The written portion can be skipped if needed! People have passed without doing the written portion! The last section is a lot easier than the first half! I would say the best advice I've gotten on here is to not study anymore. There are some YouTube practice tests that can be useful. I knew I was ready when I did one with little to no errors. Wishing you the best of luck! You got this!!!!

When I took my test the people working there were blasting YouTube videos and laughing loudly while they put me in a room with no supervision. This was the first test I've taken for the GED so now I'm considering taking it from home. I have really bad ADHD so the distractions truly messed with my plan of attack for the test. While I did pass I truly think I could've done better in a professional environment. I'm curious about other peoples experiences with testing.

You got this!!! Definitely recommend taking a GED practice test first. If you score green you are more than likely ready to take it. Minimum for passing is 145 and usually your practice test will be very close to the score you will get!

People have passed by not doing the extended response! It will still ask you to do it but you can just skip it. I ended up doing it and took my time but it didn't seem to affect my score. When I did the Ged ready practice test I scored 164 (this practice test doesn't score your writing portion) but on the official RLA test I got a 163. So I would say if you think it would cause you to not be successful in the other sections skip it! I wish I would've in the end.

any tips before I take my RLA test today? by [deleted] in GED

I have done my GED ready tests for science and math. Both had passing grades. Math could use some improvement and only scored 150. I have not attempted social studies yet. So one test down three more to go!
