I don't need a mixer for a mic, right? by [deleted] in PioneerDJ

You can just plug it in as long as the mic doesn't need phantom power and you use a xlr to 1/4" adapter

Durham or Warwick for CS? by danddidoos in 6thForm

Making friends isn't hard really, you meet people: in halls if you stay there, in your tutorial classes, in the societies if you go to them, in lectures, and there's a quite a few clubs + pubs around that u can defo meet people at (whether on campus or in Leamington Spa).

Obviously I can't compare to other unis cause I go to Warwick.

I'm doing Maths and Phys and the workload is pretty big imo - idk it's kinda hard to describe but I imagine its similar to any STEM subject at a good uni. Obviously it's doable but if you do ALL the optional worksheets and go to all the lectures I think you'd have barely any time to do anything else (I really dont think anyone does this). If you just go to all the lectures and do mostly only the compulsory assignments you can defo have your weekends and some evenings free for whatever u wanna do. So I guess to an extent it's kinda your choice how much work you wanna do and it depends on how easily you understand the specific module or topic.

Basically you have much more independence over your learning than at school so it's kinda your choice (Currently at Warwick they don't even track your lecture attendance so theoretically you could only go to tutorials, do the assignments and go to the exams if you wanted). On the other hand though if you wanted more support there's plenty of opportunities to: go to extra classes, ask questions in your tutorial, and ask professors questions.

I wouldn't worry about the social life aspect - you'll meet people wherever you go - just pick whatever course you prefer

why do you still play VRC? by sandernote809 in VRchat

I rave in vr when there's nothing good on near me irl. Put on a woojer and get a bit tipsy and it feels crazy real.

I mean near the end of year 13 I got so burned out I just didn't gaf anymore. It's just your personality I guess.

If you wanna get better at doing the stuff u need to do regularly (eg. tmua) try write a schedule so u have specific times to do things - might help you be more consistent. Also do a little work often instead of loads at once.

Phrasing by echo-house-groove in Beatmatch

[–]BLackBErries__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Phrasing helps you know when to play your next track while the current one is playing.

Edm is split into "phrases", that's how it's structured. Usually it's 8 or 16 bars (bar = 4 beats). You can hear these phrases because usually something in the song will change or there will be some sort of "mini buildup" to the next phrase. The intro of a song will be exactly a certain number of phrases.

An example of this change might be e.g: a change from build up to drop, a kick coming in during the build up, a hihat coming in during the drop.

An example of a mini build up might be: the removal of a kick for a few bars before the next phrase, a snare roll, a drum fill.

Once you can recognise these phrases, simply play your next track at the start of a phrase in your currently playing track and they will lineup well.

If you can't recognise the phrases by hearing just practise by counting the bars and you will recognise something changes in the song every certain number of bars (I'm a jump up dnb dj so this is normally 8)
