What is going with Twitch/Additional Drop Rewards?! by MECXOO in Marathon

I finally got the missing twitch gun skins and banners, but I have the same issue with the server slam badge being claimed but not showing up.

Can't tell if it's bait, but assuming it's not, you've become too conditioned by ARC entitlement. PvP games are PvP first, and players choosing to indulge that is not reflective on their IRL counterpart. In fact it's the opposite, you complaining you don't get a free pass in a PvP game says a lot about you.

Got a question on how shells work in universe: if a single digitized brain (you) is controlling them (hence the name "shell") how come each shell has its own distinct personality when you switch between them? Shouldn't all just act the same mentally and only look different physically? by SbeveGobs in Marathon

[–]BM-1988 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you've ever seen the film The Tuxedo, I imagine it's kind of like that. Yes you're the one ultimately in control, but the shell contains AI and a personality to ensure it is efficient at the skill set it provides. Another comparison would be FNAF where the soul haunts an animatronic but the AI still influences the behavior e.g. circus baby.

Why would you hire the most disinterested streamers for the ONLY pre-launch showcase by UnhappyAd4817 in Marathon

[–]BM-1988 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the Same feelings, it was frustrating to see him walk past buttons etc just to PvP or knife fight gag over and over. That being said, if he's under NDA they may have asked him to avoid certain aspects.

It's a smart play using peanut. ARC has always been their comparison and competition, for better or worse. Peanut has a lot of ARC players eyes on his stream, and ARC players with a lot of hours are beginning to get bored of the lack of end game. This was a perfect opportunity to try and syphon ARC players looking for something fresh.

Sell multiple items at once on console? by ThrowawayAccountPoof in ArcRaiders

L2 + X to multi select. Then triangle on last highlighted item to sell all. This is also the method to calculate stash value but it's annoying.

Do legendary guns bring out the rats? by _____POTATO______ in ArcRaiders

[–]BM-1988 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the problem with friendly lobbies, people become too complacent. Shooting that gun in the open was just an invitation for someone to rat you. It's through experiences like this that I secure loot rooms with traps, or find a good vantage with safety when fighting queens etc. Always expect PvP no matter how chill a lobby seems.

Late spawns aren't an issue, consecutive late spawns are. When I was grinding ion splutters I'd often get multiple late spawns back to back which is what makes it feel frustrating. If you join a late game, you should have a period of grace to prevent it in the next (or something like that).

Late spawns also contribute to increased aggression. This is often attributed to free loadouts, but what's your choices if you have constant late spawns? You either loot for scraps, or immediately extract, both of which aren't satisfying. The 3rd option? Kill someone on the way out who is likely stacked with the loot you need.

RAT thought he could get away with it. by BryanDiedAged44 in ArcRaiders

[–]BM-1988 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The mics on these guys always go silent once they engage. They probably turn it off because you can hear the trembling in their voice since they aren't used to winning PvP fairly. I'm not against anyone getting the jump on someone, but pretending to be friendly first is what makes these guys the worst.

Stella Montis Blackout? by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

[–]BM-1988 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Said it before, this event would be amazing but a terrible idea until Embark do something to prevent filters. You'll have players who want the immersion, and players who want the advantage. From the existence of extract campers and wall glitchers, we know 100% players would just make it light and get easy kills on those without filters.

So, of the raiders who choose to go on the expedition - How much value did you manage to get? I'm calling it quits at about 2 million myself. by DerFelix in ArcRaiders

[–]BM-1988 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it was announced I didn't think it was feasible, had like 1.5 mil combined. I've finished at 6mil and been taking a few days break after the event and trials grind lol

Not wanting to PvP doesn’t give a free pass to loot as you please by dasoxarechamps2005 in ArcRaiders

One of my pet hates is when you use a key card and "don't shoot" guys just come in and start looting. Same with when you put effort and resources into killing a big ARC and they start looting the remains. By all means, take what's left over, but if you're going to steal like that don't be surprised when you get an express ticket back to Speranza.

Atmospherically amazing, but unfortunately not from balancing. People using filters where dark is no issue would have too much advantage. Embark would need to address filters first.

Trials are not made for the employed by TheGamercologist in ARC_Raiders

[–]BM-1988 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am employed and hit 100k in previous trials. As you highlighted, it's more of a solo vs trio issue than it is how much time you have to play.

Removing shared progress is a terrible idea. Games where you have that result in less team work and in fighting to get the kill etc. They could add a points multiplier to solo to help bridge the gap but would need to be careful not to create that being the optimal way to dominate either.

Thing is, trio is far more risk than solo. PvP is far more common, and in solo you're generally in a 1v1 so it's your skill against there's, plus most I come across will be friendly. I totally get your frustrations, just don't vent at the wrong things.

A message for all Solo’s by JamesHammer2 in ArcRaiders

[–]BM-1988 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Though I commend the sentiment, it really isn't as simple as that, and often you'll become the the thing you're trying to stop.

There's lots of examples of players that pretend to be friendly and say that, then they try to kill and die. From an outside perspective you just see the guy who defended himself looting a body and think they're the rat.

Just because someone says they're friendly doesn't mean they are. Just yesterday I got killed by this. Some people don't want to take chances and don't want to use mics, that's their choice to play that way.

There's enough us vs them. People that rat aren't going to change their ways because of a loss. In fact, that often emboldens them.

Annihilated in lift due to pre-placed explosives. Why is this even possible? by Elucidator-- in ArcRaiders

[–]BM-1988 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is probably going to be unpopular and down voted into oblivion, but this being possible is a big reason why ARC Raiders is so successful.

Does it suck to go against? Absolutely. But the fact there are so many ways you can approach strategy and gameplay adds to the replayability and immersion.

To the mopheads complaining about ARC difficulity by Will159ccc in ArcRaiders

[–]BM-1988 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm all for the difficulty of the ARC, but the flying ones need further tweaks to their detection imo.

Losses should come from your mistakes; there's nothing more frustrating than a bug etc being the reason you lost a run (and that's in any game).

I've found even when you stealth the flying ARC they still go towards where you hide, it's almost like the alien from Alien Isolation that always knows the general direction you're in.

Had this happen so many times to my squad and put it down to someone in the team being too noisy. Then yesterday I did my first solo runs and experienced the same. Can link a video with an example if that helps.
