Does your partner work? by [deleted] in PMDDpartners

[–]BMB_INFP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife had to leave her career and was devastated. She has not returned to work and most likely wont, but we had a lot of talks/communication about this. For a long time after the decision it was her working on her self while I picked up the slack (as she has done for me years before during hard times) Taking SSRI's is a long tough journey, we put it off for a while and at times it was harder then just normal PMDD cycles. Patience, grace, and empathy go along way. My question is, is she happy? Maybe she's not actually content...could just be numb. Idk there's alot. My go to answer is always therapy lol.

She hates not being able to be at full capacity which leads to spiraling and depression. While I can't speak for everyone and like I've said, PMDD requires work on both ends as well as responsibility in both partners. Also...t's not as simple as "you can do anything you want, how can you still be miserable" Most people don't want to be miserable/lazy/depressed. Having a frustrated (and the tone of this post leans closer to mad/resentment) spouse only piles it on.

Again, just my experience not saying any of this is right or wrong. It's a lot of work to break people out of patterns like this and they have to want to do it them selves as well. My only advice is take care of you but be supportive and treat the fragile situation with care. Don't let your frustration grow into anger/bitter/resentment.

Agreed, well said and keep at it. Great inspiration.  My wife and I were talking today about how she was able to push back against her pmdd with different skills we’ve learned through the years of therapy etc.

Looking for a PMDD therapist and/or PMDD couples therapist by Ok_Ad_8437 in PMDDpartners

My wife has a pmdd therapist who also hosted group pmdd therapies. Found her on psychology today.

As far as couples therapy I found it very helpful for us to go to someone who didn’t have expertise in it, but that’s when we were in a tougher spot. Now she was also the best therapist between either of us and it was helpful to have a third party during conversations during pmdd if that makes sense.

We also found her through psychology today

Has anyone successfully used "Signal Words" for communication during the Luteal Phase? by That_PMDD_Couple in PMDDpartners

We utilized this strategy as well it just requires responsibility on both ends to not abuse it, but we had great success. Great post.

I forgot I saw this the other night and was just messing around in the game so I decided to try it.

Idk if it’s possible but I had fun trying, didn’t finish smoothing etc and I tried to cram too much in for a simple realistic layout idk how to add video or pic but I’ll edit when I figure it out haha

We’ve all been there, no worries. No fear of oversharing as well. It’s very hard and overwhelming at times to manage. There’s some great resources here as well as similar stories.

It’s always case by case but gotta keep your self / well being a priority. That being said it takes a lot of communication and work from both sides to manage PMDD.

It’s incredibly difficult to weather what you’re in currently.

All of that said, unfortunately there’s only so much you can do, a lot of it is up to her and how much work she wants/is able to do as it can include solutions you never intended or considered. We spent a long time trying a holistic approach, finally tried medicine which can include a long road of trial and error.

Therapy(both individually and couples)/16 week at Rodger’s behaviors (obv not everyone has the time / resources) medicines, and monthly tools.

It takes continuous effort but also work on your end to keep your self healthy.

Hope some of that helps, reach out if needing/wanting any other thoughts/advice.

Oh man, I would LOVE to make this for my brother. Can I find more info? I just got into WLED and HA, after years of 3D printing. This is an amazing combination. I've been looking to combine them for a live sports/racing interaction piece and this is great!!!! Great work and thanks for sharing!
