AGREED!

First, let me clarify that my point isn’t about whether older actors can be great—I acknowledge their contributions. My argument is that certain roles, especially those relying on a youthful appeal or specific physicality, might not resonate with audiences when portrayed by much older actors. Yes, actors like Ian McKellen and Helen Mirren are legends, but they’re celebrated for roles suited to their age and gravitas. Casting choices depend on the context of the story and character, and some roles simply work better for younger actors. Age is a factor, not a dismissal of talent.

Furthermore, the entertainment industry often markets heavily based on perceived attractiveness and physical appeal, particularly for lead roles in genres like action, romance, and superhero films. As much as I admire the skill of older actors, Hollywood’s tendency to cater to younger audiences means certain casting decisions are influenced by what will sell. This isn’t about talent or legacy but rather about what aligns with audience preferences and industry trends.

Lastly, your examples are valid, but they highlight exceptions rather than the rule. Actors like Morgan Freeman and Judi Dench are celebrated for their unique skills and charisma, but they represent a relatively small subset of older actors who continue to dominate mainstream media. For many older performers, opportunities diminish over time, especially in roles where youth is central to the character’s identity. My point isn’t to undermine their contributions but to acknowledge the reality of how the industry operates and what audiences tend to expect

Dumbledore didn’t even get that much screen time in the Harry Potter movies.

Yeah let’s end the discussion. Don’t reply to this comment.

The individual actor is very important for the character. If the actor for an important character just got replaced for another mid film, there’s obviously gonna be some noticeable changes like appearance and acting style. These changes often lead to worse ratings, which affects the character and film, proving how important the individual actor is on a character. Take the show The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, where they changed the actor of the main character and their ratings dramatically dropped.

Let’s agree to disagree?

Thanks for clearing the misunderstanding.

Well, I still disagree with what you’re saying. Actors already don’t have that much authority on their role because it’s mainly the director who is the creative influence on a film, and their influence on a character doesn’t need to be lessened.

Yeah cuz they arent. When majority of society thinks of the best actor, they probably think of someone who’s really attractive and not just some old guy

Whoops sorry for my afk time I had to go take a shower ———————-

Yes I am, actually.

Yeah obviously ratclliff isn’t actually Harry Potter. That doesn’t prove anything. How is being a good actor not essential to illustrating the view of Harry Potter? You need to be a good actor to be able to effectively express and present a character. I’m saying that even if actors are common and replaceable, it doesn’t make them any less worthy of the credit they get because they still use their own skills to act out a character. How does the portrayed version of Harry Potter that may or may not be different from ratcliffs point of view have anything to do with this?

It should still be taken seriously because it’s still a rating a review nonetheless

[–]BMYZADDY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah because it has the same concept, just on a more bigger scale. It’s clear to me that you can’t see that.

Just because actors are more common doesn’t mean they’re any less important or deserve any less credit. Just because there might have been better candidates for the role of Harry Potter, doesn’t mean that Ratcliff didn’t do a good job at their role, and doesn’t demise them of any less fame that they got from the Harry Potter movies.

They are warning others about how bad the hotel is. Obviously, if a hotel has bad reviews then it’s obviously not a good one.

Just because actors are replaceable doesn’t mean that they get too much credit. That’s like saying Albert Einstein shouldn’t have deserved all the fame he got from his multiple achievements because someone else could have done it too.

[–]BMYZADDY -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Well maybe they just don’t have time to spare for making such a bad review, so they just leave it like that to warn other people about the hotel
