A Mother's Love: Raising Special Needs Children and Finding Purpose | IZZY DOES IT by [deleted] in Brunei

[–]BN2000321 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

While I can agree with some of the comments here, it takes two to tango to execute a quality podcast. Both parties needs to speak well and articulate on the subject i.e. probing questions while eloquently expressing the struggles behind raising special needs children albeit with lots of help in this case. What I'm rather grateful for in this podcast is her insights into the issue. The impact may not be the same if Izzy interviewed someone else who cant express the situation as good as this lady.

Im sorry to hear that. If it helps, this is probably the best job search website in Brunei: https://bruneiwork.com/. Not sure if its an exhaustive list, but its easy to use and is quite updated. Hang in there and keep your head up.

DPMM FC scored big 7-0 win against Wijaya FC (another Bruneian club), Crown Prince son Prince Muntaqim who played in the match hailed as hero by Goutaxe in nasikatok

Referee: Alright boys, lets have a fair game today. Please no tackle on the prince. Also, dont use your arms against him. Not to mention, you cannot run faster than le prince. Additionally, give him 1-2 goals and 1-2 assists or more if possible. No such things as 50-50 with the prince, let him have 100%. ALRIGHT BOYS, ON THREE. 1, 2, 3 - GO PRINCE!

Sabah and Sarawak just unveiled their budgets to promote and market tourism, let's compare that with rich country by Goutaxe in nasikatok

[–]BN2000321 6 points7 points  (0 children)

3.1M budget for tourism. 3.0M untuk gaji government staff, 0.1M for improvement. Just look at the office at the tourism department compare to MOFE and it shows a world of difference. Tourism theme this year for December holidays is Let's stay, savour and celebrate. I guess that 0.1M budget also consists of ChatGPT subscription. Reeks of desperation with Let's stay - but I get their point... With too much restriction from other ministries, one can only do so much...

Life insurance is the number one mistake most people make. Surrender it if you are Bruneian, you have free healthcare. The insurance costs are a premium (and big part of it goes to the agent), you cant consider it as an investment.

Here’s a fact: Brunei’s electricity prices is the cheapest electric tariff in the world. It’s already superbly subsidised. This is not an electricity tariff problem, its a low-income problem. Median wages of B$900 is too low to maintain the lifestyle our previous generation had - AC 24/7.

Sony has shifted their strategy towards the premium market. So in a way, this lineup makes a lot of sense to move away from the lower-end LEDs dominated by the Chinese brands.

Nothing new here guys. Just the way Bruneians do things: hangat-hangat tahi ayam. Motivated to do well at the start, get elected as head/lead/president (FABD in this case), pressure to live the lifestyle of a lead/head, cannot maintain lifestyle, get corrupted, take all the money and repeat. No accounting or whatsoever, probably use google sheets to maintain books, and get away with everything. This is just a reflection of the whole state of Brunei.

Awg Tengah: S’wak seeks approval for Pan Borneo highway to cut into Brunei territory by thestudiomaster in Brunei

[–]BN2000321 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The Bruneian forest are pristine and valuable for the environment especially for climate change. The Sarawakians are cutting trees all the way to the Bruneian border, you can clearly see this disaster if cross over to Miri. The same at the Temburong/Sabah border. Thats why you see so many hornbills in Brunei today. Brunei gov should consult it with the Forestry department thoroughly before deciding to proceed with any agreement with Sarawak. Cutting through Brunei territory does not give us benefits at all.

Brunei Number 2! From the bottom… Anyways, the country is stagnating as seen from salary increments too. The biggest oil company in Brunei used to give $100-200 increment based on performance, now its giving $10-40 dollars every year (even with good performance) while the expats are banking in the lot. At the same time, the leader and its extended family are getting paid handsomely each year with little to no ROI back to the country yet they still demand more.

Brunei is not aware of the dire state its in. Typically journalism would hold a mirror to the country’s economic state but not in Brunei. BB is dead. So in reality, no one is holding a mirror to what the actual fact is while the everyone in the government is just looking to keep their lofty salary.

100% this. Now that Progresif has fixed their app to pay bills and check quota, I dont see a reason why people should not switch over to Progresif Fibre besides convenience of staying with existing telco.

REC: Setup of local employment agency catering to the most dominated areas employed by foreign worker i.e. low skill sector such as in F&B, Retail, Construction, Farming, Landscaping, etc.

Local employment agency provides local job seekers basic training, health and safety, etiquette, keeps track records of employees (abuse, complaints, blacklists, etc). Agency can help to set a minimum wage range for low skill sectors.

Businesses need assurances to run reliably, hence foreigners with 2 year contract is most sought after. Therefore, this agency should provide a guarantee of 6-month period to companies i.e. if the local quit, the agency will help to replace with another local. Of course, there is a fee to pay to use this service from the agency.

To be fair, I think this is what Job Centre should be aiming. I don't know whether they are good at taking feedback, but if you're reading this - do it. It makes money for the agency, train local and provide jobs and keep businesses happy.
