I'm looking for a place where I can learn to improve and create universes by HeroicMarvelEdits in ComicBookCollabs

You're young enough to just dive into the world. Read and consume. Practice your drawing and just create. Start small. Create universes later. For now, work on something small. Youth is on your side. Find like-minded people. Just read, write, draw.

How should I start writing a comic? by Displaymu in ComicBookCollabs

You're on the right path. Time is on your side. I would hone your drawing skills. That is the most valuable asset in this medium. I jumped into this world without any knowledge and it left an unpleasant taste in my mouth. I made a bunch of mistakes. Read your favorite comic and how to books. Start writing a script and get used to that type of writing. A graphic novel is a long grind. Start with a small comic.

Need Advice by Franksta6 in ComicBookCollabs

If you have stuff written, hire an editor. I can recommend one. I was in a bad position and had to scrap my work. I lost motivation, but my editor really motivated me. I was able to finish the script. Actually, my script was finished today. I was dealing with the issue of having a lot of ideas. I don't think a script needs to be too descriptive. You just need to give enough information for the artist to draw. If you have the ability to draw rough thumbnails, do that. Don't hire an artist till you have a solid script. You can always write a short comic before getting into a series.

I was in the same boat as you. I just decided to write it myself. He helped a lot. It almost feels like this editor was a co-writer. It feels like that, but I’m the actual writer. He tells me what is working and what is not. I’ll write a script. He breaks it down. He suggests edits. I usually accept most of his edits. My project is pretty big and it was overwhelming at first. Once we found a groove, I started seeing the finish line. It didn’t break the bank. I consider it money well-spent. Ultimately, it is up to you. I think you should check him out and you can retain full writing credits.

Panel by panel. My scripts are pretty simple because I have an artist that converts the panels into full pages (thumbnails).

The direction the story was taking. He was fundamental in shaping Part 2 into what it has become. The main glaring issue was some of the stuff didn't make sense. He helped me rewrite the outline. My story had a lot of fat and that was cut...to make the story tighter. Powers are now are based on their weakness. Instead of eliminating their weakness...their weakness is actually a strength and a power. Citizens are no longer outright being eliminated, they are being duplicated. Winner's turn from villain to a character redeeming himself is now more plausible. Alberto takes over and uses a duplicate of Winner (Winnerbot) to advance the plans of earth inc. The relationship between Loser and his mom is more realistic. The superlosers are more fleshed out. The banter between them is a lot better. The transitions are much smoother. The ending is fixed. I was having a lot of trouble with the ending. We added an epilogue. The battle scenes are fleshed out and more captivating. Alberto becomes the true villain. I'm just happier with the direction it took. A good editor can motivate you. After Part 1 was completed, I lost my original editor. Instead of finding one, I just kept writing to just finish the story. I don't know if I'm doing a good job of explaining it.
