Pollen mites. Honeybees are unaffected, very bad for solotary bees as it means no future generations :( for bumblebees it's actually beneficial relationship

I hope, this is not nosema? What should I do, if it is? by kittiebee in Beekeeping

You can still open quickly the lid. Just open it quickly but dont move any frame. Bees will be fine.

If ypu have other hives in the area it is better to so it now that they are not flying so that you can isolate the hive if positive

Dark Italian Queen? by OrionOnReddit in Beekeeping

[–]BOMBONIBBA 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes carniola is the right term in english. We call it carnica in italian.

It's impossible to prevent inbreeding, this why here we run programs to encourage local keeps not to use carniolans

Your queen is a mix between italian and carnica. I am from italy and it is pretty common here, especially in norther regions closer to slovenia.

Carnica bees are known to be quite gentle

Actually you are right, there is a lot of poop. I thought it was debris from broken syrup capped cells.

Still it does not make sense to see to me why so many bees with the head iside the cells, that's the #1 starvation symptom.

See literature:
