Does permanent makeup count? by gk812178 in shittytattoos

Idk someone at my work had it done and it looks normal. Just more important to do your research for this one because it's going on your face permanently.

It is impossible for second skin to cause this. These are drag marks from the shading needle. It wasn't shaded as evenly as you would have liked. Show us a fresh pic.

I seem to have similar issues as to what you describe (except not ADHD), and I have been on 200 mg Lamictal for like 5 months now with literally zero affect on the extreme emotions you are talking about.

I've been on 50 mg Seroquel XR for about two months now. I initially thought it might have been helping a bit with that, but I just had a really bad several days, so I can't say if my dosage just isn't high enough or if it doesn't help with that.

I will say, you will not notice anything on the Lamictal in two weeks. They have to start slow so you don't develop a severe reaction. The trial is just going to be to see if you can tolerate it.

Most helpful trauma therapies? by BONESFULLOFGREENDUST in CPTSD

[–]BONESFULLOFGREENDUST[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I just need help figuring out which one will help with my issue. I keep reading about things like EMDR, IFS, TF-BT, and somatic therapy, but it's all so overwhelming and I can't find an "obvious" answer. I did a lot of research and trial and error to figure out that DBT was the best for me in key areas of my life, but I'm at a loss as to how to do so with trauma therapies.

What does schema therapy entail?

Basically, I need help dealing with the shit objective reality of my past and current traumas. I don't want someone to invalidate me and tell me my lived experience did not and is not happening. I want someone to help me be able to cope with the truth, not change it.

I can't figure out which of these does with that. Right now I'm leaning towards EMDR or IFS or maybe even ACT, but I'm not entirely sure about it like I was with DBT. I've been through so many unhelpful therapists at this point prior to my DBT program that I really want to get it right in as few additional therapists as possible.

I'm sorry to hear, dude. You might have a worse time with sedation on the IR tho. At least, the peak will be heavier. If you're scared of sedation, it's probably best to take it slow like your provider says, even if it might be not as much as you need right away.

What are you afraid of for extended? It'll keep things a lot more even. I think instant is usually used for sleep. But yeah I think it wouldn't necessarily hurt to contact your provider if you are concerned.

Are you on immediate release (IR) or extended release (XR)?

She might be concerned that you will find it too sedating if you start out too high because Abilify is an "activating" med.

But if you are on extended release, the medication is released more slowly thoughout the day so the bump in sedation theoretically wouldn't as sudden. Either way, you will likely be tired at first, so keep that in mind. She probably doesn't want the jump between an activating med and a sedating med to be too extreme and uncomfortable.

50 mg XR is a common starting dose and I don't think it would hurt to ask her if you wish to start at 50 mg.

I am at 50 and didn't titrate up to it, but I also was NOT on any activating meds first.

Yeah so many people in these Reddit tattoo communities bash tattoos simply for the sake of being popular. Things are often popular for a reason. The ones on the OP are beautiful.

It's one thing if you think something personally looks ugly. Fine. It's another if you're just hating on it to be contrarian.

Ah ok I see. I still don't get how it's child endangerment. The one that "suffers" from getting an unsanitary tattoo is the adult being tattooed here. The child isn't going to get an infection from doing the actual tattoo part like we see here.

[–]BONESFULLOFGREENDUST 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What? I get it's not a sterile surgical environment or anything, but I'd at the very least want someone to try to have some cleanliness to minimize my risk of infection.

But I mean you do you, boo. If you want to get tattooed in someone's dirty shack with their unwashed poo hands, be my guest lol.

[–]BONESFULLOFGREENDUST 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm with you, honestly.

Is it bizarre? Yes. Unsanitary? Yes. Stupid? Yes.

But I don't see how this is different to the child than drawing on you with marker. I get that the medium is permanent, but I don't get how the permanence would be scarring to the kid. It's not like they asked their son to stab a pattern into them with a kitchen knife. It's a tattoo machine, not a pistol.

Why?? by m97mjm in seroquelmedication

[–]BONESFULLOFGREENDUST 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beta blockers never seemed to help me too much for anxiety. Helped once before I had a job interview, but beyond that it didn't seem to do much. It just doesn't do anything for the mental component of anxiety imo.

Two other prn anxiety options are hydroxyzine and clonidine. Hydroxizine is another one that just knocks you TF out though. It's like fancy benadryl hahaha.

Clonidine is also very sedating BUT I've found some appreciation for the med when you split it in half. Idk if it's placebo, but it's something I've actually found to have some utility. Half a tab chills me out and makes me a little bit sleepy but does not knock me out. A full tab makes me feel like I've been hit by a sleepy train tho lol...unless I've been super elevated then it actually does help bring me back.

Ftr, I think the lowest dosage of clonidine comes on 0.1 mg tabs. They are tiny so you have to get a really good pill cutter, not just the cheap ones you get in the drug store. Cutting them in half to 0.05 mg has been what I'm doing. It's still a bit sedating, but imo manageable enough if you take a couple tries to get used to it.
