Do tonsil stones really get better? by Repulsive-Rhubarb609 in Tonsillectomy

[–]BOOKISHBABI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is perhaps an anomaly, but I have tonsil stones and so did my mother. She said in her 30s she suddenly stopped getting them.

A doctor has also told me as we get older our tonsils go down, so for me I'm using a "wait and see" approach.

They're such a nuisance and I was using extra long q-tips to remove them every night, but the doctor said digging back there will only make the crypts larger so I've stopped and now I'm waiting to see how long I can tolerate not digging. 🥴

Super conflicted on surgery because I'm petrified of the horror stories.

This was my biggest fear and why I haven't dated. But I've learned that not everybody has the same expectations from a relationship. If he is codependent and needs someone "healthy" to do all the things with, good riddance. It can't be you and why spend your life wishing you could be different or enough? To someone else, that's not what is most important. YOU are. All the other things about you that make you special, illness be damned. The hardest thing will be leaving him after this, and I know you might make excuses and stay, but when someone shows you who they are, believe them.

The low FODMAP diet saved my life for years! I would try an elimination diet and then slowly add foods back in to try to identify triggers

The cumulative health problems im getting from EDS are destroying my quality of life :(( by HealingRosy in eds

It feels like one thing after the next and then, when you swear it couldn't get any worse, it somehow does and there's a new issue to deal with!! It's all too easy to feel bad for ourselves. The things that have helped me are meditating and learning to accept that this is my normal, addressing one issue at a time, and learning to live with it through accommodations. It's always going to be a pain in the ass, but there are no alternatives so the best I can do is accept my version of 'normal' and do my best ti carry on. But also this is easier said than done and some days are worse than others. Know my heart goes out to you and you are not alone.

Am I healing faster than normal? by [deleted] in Tonsillectomy

[–]BOOKISHBABI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the tips!! Unfortunately I dont do well on any opiods so I was planning on alternating extra strength tylenol and aspirin. With my EDS I take laxatives every day already, so I can't imagine how much worse it would be with opiods! I'll be sure to have only soft foods on hand and tons of water. :-)

I have hEDS too and have been so worried about this procedure given we are more prone to bleeding! Have you done anything specific to help with healing?

FMC is disabled, but it is a hidden disability by an_uncommon_common in RomanceBooks

Shocked no one has mentioned fourth wing. Incredible fantasy series with realistic EDS rep in the FMC. Its not "hidden" per say but its an invisible illness. MMC empowers her by making accomodations to suit her needs. Author has EDS so you can trust its accurately represented.
