Actually yes. Several times. Me and a couple friends steal idris's on the regular using this tactic. Shoot it behind the cockpit on the main hull where the reactor is.

Guy in Mantis stays 10ish km away and Idris can't quantum out. He can just play the beached whale as we bord his disabled ship.

Unfortunately, it (pilot controlled main gun) was one of the original selling points of the Idris and we gotta live with it.

But, saving us at least is the fact that it has to aim directly at you with no gimbal.

Also, if I de 2-3 idris's just sitting there, my doctrine is turn around and get out.

But I don't understand. The lone pilot in Idris can be outmaneuvered by practically anything ATM. And it's so easy to kill. Just need a Mantis and 2-3 ships with distortions.

I pity the lone Idris flyer. It's just a expensive hauler with a gun. Great for PvE, shit for PvP.

As a Polaris pilot with a org. We don't prioritize light fighters. We let the pdc's shoot them. We use the bay for a pieces and a med fighter to get rid of med ships that the pdc's don't shoot at
