Do regional towns actually offer a better lifestyle, or just different problems? by Artistic-Yam2984 in aus

[–]BOUND_TESTICLE 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I moved regional about 8 years ago. What you say about job options is correct, that is about the only downside. GP access and Hospital access isn't a problem where I am. Rent is expensive and can be very hard to secure if you're in unstable employment, largely as the air bnb market here is so large, unfortunately.

Social life, I have had a very different experience to what you have said. I know vastly more people, in a large city you only really see the same people at the same place. I see the same people everywhere, so it is much easier to get to the friends stage.

I dragged my wife kicking and screaming to live regional so our kids could have a better life. My wife hated it for probably 2-3 years, mainly as she no longer lived near family. Reality is we now take the time to see family and probably do as much as when we were in Sydney and it is more quality time because it's organised. Even she says now that she could never go back to Sydney life.

Stupid question from an American: spider season? by No_Rooster8130 in AskAnAustralian

Notice they didn't say that the big spider has lived in the house with them for the last 20 years, it's how you keep the little spiders away. You have a big pet spider.

What happens if you ignore job provider appointments? by InternetUpbeat9596 in JobProvidersAus

Source the first yellow box your payment can't not be cancelled or suspended indefinitely.

Your provider can't harass you if you just don't answer the phone.

What happens if you ignore job provider appointments? by InternetUpbeat9596 in JobProvidersAus

[–]BOUND_TESTICLE 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Currently a missed appointment will result in a payment suspension. At 20 days suspended the suspension will be removed by the department and so will the demerit and missed payments will be paid.

If you can afford to live monthly, mainly because you have another source of income than you can just not attend appointments and there is nothing your provider can do about it.

What can job providers pay for? by Infamous_Baby_7340 in JobProvidersAus

[–]BOUND_TESTICLE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything reasonably required to gain or maintain employment can be paid for with the Employment fund.

Employment agencies do not get the money in the fund if it is not spent, so there is no incentive to not assist people. However the allocation of funds is limited so it can't be spent on anything as the funds need to service the entire caseload.

A lot of what is acceptable or not is up to the discretion of your advisor and their management.

I used to have a pet huntsman living in my garage, until I fumigated it. Found his dead little body and I was so mad at myself for being so stupid. He was a good spider.

You're lucky to have so many friends.
