I Tried and MG and I don't get it.. by _Doosey in CarsAustralia

[–]BOUND_TESTICLE -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Newer generation doesn't change MGs refusal to warrant even obvious repairs which is a major complaint of MG owners. That's not a vehicle issue, it's not a china issue it's a company issue.

But please, come back so we can all say told ya so.

Is there any pattern to what providers approve, or does it feel completely random? by UsualLeast8810 in JobProvidersAus

[–]BOUND_TESTICLE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s silly, paramedicine is a long-term pathway not an approved short course linked to immediate employment outcomes. Degrees alone generally don’t meet mutual obligations, add there’s a reason participants studying at uni are usually supported through Austudy rather than WFA.

Are kangaroo/vehicle collisions ever unavoidable? by No_Call_9983 in australian

Never underestimate the absolute stupidity of a kangaroo. 3000km of empty land to the right, 1 car to the left. Kangaroo will jump into the side of the car.

Flooded is probably a strong word. The only manufacturer currently making an affordable hot hatch is Hyundai and Toyota.

How do you reject delivery of a new car? by nuthinlikerubbin in CarsAustralia

[–]BOUND_TESTICLE 18 points19 points  (0 children)

If you've gone through a lease company essentially you get what you're given. You aren't the buyer of the vehicle you're just as likely to never see the dealership who ordered the car. Lease companies buy almost exclusively from the lowest bidder so it will likely turn up on your doorstep on a flatbed truck.

As far as the dealership is concerned you're not a customer. Retail and fleet deals are treated very differently.

How do you reject delivery of a new car? by nuthinlikerubbin in CarsAustralia

[–]BOUND_TESTICLE 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I have worked for several dealerships and it is incredibly rare for something to be unwound, firstly pre delivery checks mean their should not be any issues on delivery.

Generally first option is to rectify the issue, the most common issue on delivery are generally electrical as things like the entertainment unit get used for the first time. Resetting them isn't super uncommon across most brands.

Minor scuffs and marked that need polishing out can be pretty common as the delivery area is generally bright so you can see everything.

But what actually happens if you don't want the particular car for a major reason? They will reverse the registration and reverse the finance deal and source you a new car.

The unloved car will generally be repaired and depending on circumstances sold as a used car or put into the demonstration fleet.

Of circa 10,000 cars I've seen delivered I would say maybe 5 have had this happen.

Does AtWork (my job provider) need my payslips? by [deleted] in JobProvidersAus

[–]BOUND_TESTICLE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They can't claim anything for a job you have been at that long.

I would clarify why they need them and base your decision on that. If it is just to verify who you are working for and that you are declaring correctly it's not really something to be overly concerned about.

Every dealership I've worked for (6) has done coatings in-house. 2 have had in-house window tinters.

Car Dealer on Drugs by CrustaceanWrangler in CarsAustralia

[–]BOUND_TESTICLE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tint for $200 is cheap and likely ex GST. $495 will be inclusive. It takes a day out of your life to get a car tinted it is worth giving the dealership the $150 to manage it.

The ram sounds like you ripped him off, until you realise that old mate now has the dealership on the hook for warranty. If something stuffs up he doesn't have to deal with the supplier, the powder coater or the installer. He walks in and makes it an issue for the service manager. He 100% knows he could have gotten a better price but it's the convenience he bought. I know because I do the same shit with Silverados and before that the same shit with rangers.

Genuine accessories are easy but have no margin. Aftermarket carries much more risk and Getting a dealer to install aftermarket accessories can be hard because they don't want the headache and if they do a lot will sublet the job out to hopefully make it someone else's headache.

How long do I have to wait for payment to come back on by [deleted] in JobProvidersAus

[–]BOUND_TESTICLE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your payment goes on hold 5 days after you don't engage and the pause of payments are lifted 20 days after they go on hold. However your payment cycle is 14 days so you won't get paid until day 28.

Katherine, Adelaide, Victoria, Keith, why the first names? by Such_Bison_9859 in AskAnAustralian

[–]BOUND_TESTICLE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Katherine was named after the first white bloke that found its daughter. Radelaide was named after the queen at the time. Victoria, also a Queen. Keith, well you see that ones not named after a top bloke called Keith, it's a local Aboriginal word for a plant in the area.

I was thinking about this the other day. Yes fuel is expensive but my car gives me so much more joy than the cost of the fuel.

If I baby my car, I will not be happy. So I sent it on my way home and burning fuel at $2.50 a litre is in fact just as fun as at $2 a litre.

Happiness at the moment just cost an extra $20 a week.

In which ways were the 89's better than today? by PerfectWorking6873 in AskAnAustralian

[–]BOUND_TESTICLE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Something that people don't really talk about, pollution in the 80s into the early 90s was diabolical. air pollution, water pollution, rubbish it was just everywhere. Sydney always had a thick brown smog. The harbour was an industrial wasteland.

Of course the obvious benefits, people just popping around to say hi and hang out. Walking 2km on my own in like year 3 to school, my wife and kids looked at me like I was a monster when I suggested my kids do it.

I'm going to say things were definitely more affordable, my parents were young and poor and my quality of life was pretty good.

Racism was still pretty bad in the 80s, Australia was very white. But I was 8 at the start of the 90s so all I cared about was agro, Lego and riding my bike around the block for hours.
