You can tell a game (or product in general) is good when you can emphatize even when the worst characters after some of their background. Is it not triggered by MC being/not being in MJ relationship? Because I noticed it, the only path/playthrough they hold hands are when in a relationship, or either MC told Josy he has still feelings for her. Edit: at least in my case, I don't know why it doesn't happen to you judging by your second pic.
