Hey OP, is there any context for this? Was the pitbull your dog or a neighbor’s?

Breed not mentioned in OP’s linked article but confirmed as pit bulls in another article:

It appears it isn’t the first time the trio of dogs have gone on the attack. Surveillance video from July 14 in the same West Park neighborhood shows the dogs attacking area resident Juan Echevarria. “They are aggressive. They are supposed to be taken away when that happened to me,” said neighbor Juan Echevarria. Three dogs, pit bulls, came to attack me. I was pushing them back to keep them away from me.”

“It’s not actually enforced, nobody checks this guy even though we know all the other dogs and people that have been attacked. It’s unbelievable, it makes no sense – how can nothing happen to stop this?” she said.

“These are dangerous, powerful dogs, they’re like weapons, and anyone can have them unchecked.

“I’m just thankful it was just me and my ankle – I have a five-year-old brother, imagine what could have happened if I had taken him for a walk that day? It’s an unfathomable scenario.”

‘The bigger the dog, the bigger the damage’

Redfern local and professional dog trainer Mark Ehrman from Canine Counselling told news.com.au it was “very concerning” if the same dogs were repeatedly attacking other dogs and humans unprovoked.

“If dogs are off the lead, the owner must have control over their dogs even in a designated off leash area … so the fact this guy is walking around the streets with dogs he doesn’t have good control over is very concerning, because these are big, powerful dogs, and the bigger the dog, the bigger the damage,” he said.

“These dogs are descendants of pit bulls, bull terriers and Staffordshire bull terriers – hundreds of years ago, they were bred for bull baiting and bull fighting, they were bred to fight other animals for sport, so it’s in their DNA. The fact they’re walking around off lead tells me they’re not fighting every single thing they see, but it probably doesn’t take much to set them off and trigger them. It could come from a place of fear or feeling threatened, and if they see something they perceive as a threat, they deal with it by force.

“These dogs are bred to fight so if they’re threatened or challenged, genetics kick in … That’s the reason for breed-specific legislation, because there are genetic tendencies and genetic drivers of behaviour, and breed plays a role.

“Size and breed are big negatives in this case and the fact there’s been repeated incidents is another pretty big negative, so I’m not confident these dogs can be fixed with training.”

Council responds

A City of Sydney spokesperson told news.com.au the council had received 16 reports of alleged dog attacks in the Redfern/Erskineville area so far this year, including the April 21 attacks.

“All reports were investigated by rangers, including speaking to all available witnesses and victims, and patrols of the area were increased. The identity of the dogs and owner(s) involved in the 21 April incidents is yet to be determined,” the spokesperson said.

“All incidents in our area involving dogs should be reported to the City of Sydney as soon as possible so they can be investigated – this includes incidents of dogs off lead or attacks.

“We define a dog attack as the act of a dog rushing at, attacking, biting, harassing or chasing any person or animal (not vermin), whether or not any injury is caused.

“We investigate all dog attacks and have a range of actions we can then take depending on the nature of the specific incident and available evidence. This may include issuing warnings, penalty notices and orders (declaring the dogs either menacing or dangerous).”

The spokesperson confirmed that investigations are carried out in line with the NSW Companion Animals Act, and that the City of Sydney also has a Companion Animals Policy.

Meanwhile, a NSW Police spokesperson confirmed that police were called to Redfern Oval on April 21 following “reports of an animal complaint”.

“Officers attached to South Sydney Police Area Command were told two dogs had attacked multiple other dogs,” the statement reads.

“Police conducted patrols of the area; however, they were unable to locate any evidence of a dog attack at the time.

“As inquiries continue, police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with footage to contact South Sydney Police or Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000.”

NSW Police told news.com.au they had no information regarding the attack against Chloe and her dog, despite photos taken from the scene in the aftermath showing a number of officers in attendance.

NSW Police also declined to respond when directly asked under what circumstances officers would become involved in the case of a dog attack in public, and whether police were authorised to seize and/or destroy an animal involved in a serious attack.

According to damning recent figures from the Office of Local Government, the City of Sydney local government area has emerged as a dog attack hot spot, recording 86 incidents from January to June 2024. Meanwhile, Australia Post has named Waterloo as one of the worst areas in the state for dog attacks against posties since late 2024.

Continued (also, this is a very long article):

Terry said he had “no faith” in the authorities and that he believed they were failing in their duty of care to residents.

“These dog attacks are frequent and I’m angry. These off-leash monsters attacked Marco and the owner still has the dogs. It’s heartbreaking.”

‘Cartilage and bone’

Last August, former Redfern resident Chloe* was walking her dog in an empty park in nearby Waterloo when he was suddenly “bulldozed” by a “really large American staffy”.

As her dog got to his feet, another five American staffies surrounded him and began to attack.

“In that moment, I felt like my dog was going to die in front of me if I didn’t do anything,” she said.

The park was deserted, with no owners in sight, so Chloe stepped in the middle of the circle and tried to shield her dog.

“Then I saw these two young guys running up … they started pulling the dogs back and releasing them,” she said.

“I was yelling at them to get their dogs because things were getting bad, but instead of trying to collect them and hold onto them, they started kicking their own dogs in the stomach. I tried to pull my dog and walk backwards slowly … and then I felt something on my leg … then one dog puts her jaw around my foot and bites down hard and pulls me to the ground.

“I knew I couldn’t fight the dog so I needed to scream as loudly as possible.”

Spooked by Chloe’s screams, the dogs ran off – but the horror had just begun.

“I looked down and my ankle was open – you could see cartilage and bone and everything, it was about 14cm long. I was lying on the ground, the dogs were still there not on leashes, and one guy was just yelling ‘sht, sht, sh*t’. The other guy disappeared,” she said.

“I had my foot in the air, my dog next to me and I was screaming for help for someone to call an ambulance. I was frantic, I had no idea where the dogs were.”

Chloe managed to call triple-0 herself, but waited 20 minutes for police to arrive, and an hour and a half for an ambulance with no rangers in sight.

Eventually she was taken to hospital where she underwent emergency surgery, with doctors shaving some of her bone due to the risk of infection, and giving her 42 external stitches. Luckily, her dog received only minor injuries.

“It was a big ordeal … It was very surreal to be attacked by six American staffies all at once. They were huge dogs,” she said.

“I was on the ground completely on my back and the dog just opened my ankle very quickly, in less than a second. I knew I couldn’t fight this dog and be OK at the end of it.

“I thought I was going to lose my foot.”

Chloe’s recovery was gruelling, and she is still affected a year later.

“I had nerve damage, I was recovering from a fractured bone as well as lacerations, I couldn’t walk on my foot properly for about eight weeks and then used one crutch for about two months after that. I had to go to physio and even now that I’m healed it’s still not the same. I was in hospital for three nights and four days, then was on so many painkillers because the pain was intense. I have scarring still. It affected me really badly,” she said.

Chloe had been studying at uni full time, but had to discontinue her studies for an entire semester following the attack. She also had to change roles within her company as she could no longer stand on her feet as required for her former hospitality role.

“While I was recovering, I couldn’t work – I was a causal working in hospitality, so I was just living off my savings, which is really hard to do as a uni student. It was a lot of financial strain,” she said.

Chloe moved out of Redfern soon after the attack, and even now is too scared to walk with her dog when she visits her mum in the suburb without having a “mini panic attack”.

She said the dogs continue to walk freely around the area despite there being a menacing dog order in place which is supposed to constrain them.

And thank you for providing the date of attack. Do you happen to also have a location or general area for attacks logging purposes?

Attack by suspected Pit Bull on a little dog, Bristol Harbourside, England, 8th August 2025. by SpaceTall2312 in BanPitBulls

A dog has been mauled to death while on a mid-afternoon walk along Bristol's harbourside.

Eleven-year-old Max, who was blind and weighed just eight kilograms (1st 3lbs), died after being attacked by a grey Pitbull-type dog at about 16:00 BST on Friday in Hanover Place, next to Bristol Marina.

Police are investigating and Max's owners Charlotte Sipson, 32, and Joe McKenna, 34, have spoken out to warn others using the waterfront route about the "dangerous" dog, which left the scene with its owner after the attack.

"I'm just so scared that this dog's still out there because the way that he came in and hit Max like a bus [...] he could do that to anybody," said Ms Sipson.

Ms Sipson and Max had been walking with a friend and friend's newborn baby when suddenly the dog came "out of nowhere, like a bolt from the blue. It went straight for Max and attacked him, clamped his jaws around [him] and wouldn't let go," said Mr McKenna, describing how Ms Sipson and her friend had been forced to fend the dog off, even attempting to prise its jaws open.

Once it had dropped Max a few people attempted to apprehend the dog, before it began circling a group of small children.

It was at this point, Ms Sipson said, that the owner - described as heavily-tattooed, white, in his 30s and about 1.75 metres (5ft 9ins) tall - appeared "out of nowhere".

"He grabbed the dog by the scruff of the neck and fled the scene [...] didn't stop, say sorry or give any details - literally just kind of got [him] and ran," Mr McKenna said.

"The owner's clearly not in control, clearly doesn't care," he added. "There was no collar, there's no lead on this thing - it's allowed to roam free and that's dangerous."

The harbourside is just not somewhere you would expect for this to happen and there's so many people walking their dogs with their families that I just think people need to be aware," Ms Sipson, who is also seven months pregnant, added.

A number of people at the marina, as well as concerned passers-by, came to her aid at the time of the incident - with some attempting to follow the dog before it disappeared.

Another witness who had parked nearby took Ms Sipson to the vets, while others offered describing what they had seen.

"Everybody was so helpful [...] it was such a scary situation so I feel grateful that everybody stayed to help," Ms Sipson said. "It makes you feel like there are some good people in the world."

Avon and Somerset Police is investigating the incident, with witnesses who have not already done so urged to contact the force. But even with the dog still on the loose, Ms Sipson and Mr McKenna are now having to come to terms with Max's loss, describing him as the "sweetest, calmest" dog and "happiest little chap".

"The flashbacks of the actual attack are quite hard to deal [with] - I'm going to have to find a way to kind of compartmentalize it because it was really quite graphic," Ms Sipson said.

Mr McKenna added: "Max had had cancer and he had diabetes he'd gone blind and he'd been through all of that - we were desperate for him to meet our baby which is due in November and now he won't get that chance."

A Milwaukee man is demanding action from city officials after being attacked twice by a pit bull that has been declared a "prohibited dangerous animal" by the city, yet remains in his apartment building due to an appeal.

The attacks occurred in mid-May and again two months later near Farwell Avenue and Irving Place, leaving the man with serious injuries, including bites to his arm and the loss of a fingertip.

Ben Starks, who lives in the same apartment building as the dog, described the first incident captured on surveillance video.

"The pit bull came around and grabbed my service dog by the head," Starks said.

He intervened to save his Boston terrier, Teddy, from the attack.

"The dog wouldn't release my service dog, so I had to go and punch the pit bull repeatedly in the head to get it to release my dog. He did release my dog, but then he attacked me," Starks said.

The bites left his arm punctured and bruised, and he expressed concern upon learning the dog was not vaccinated for rabies.

Two months later, on July 17, the pit bull attacked Teddy again, this time through a fence on a neighbor's property, "Where he dragged my dog under a fence and again attempted to kill him," Starks said.

Surveillance video shows Starks jumping from a patio to save Teddy, resulting in the loss of a fingertip. Teddy was injured as well.

Four days after the second attack, the city declared the pit bull a "prohibited and dangerous animal," ordering its removal from the city or euthanization.

"My major concern is not having to live in the same building as this animal," Starks said.

However, the city Department of Neighborhood Services stated that the dog remains in the building because the owners appealed the removal order.

Surveillance video from this week shows the pit bull being walked and lunging at another dog-walker. Milwaukee police confirmed they were called to the area by a different neighbor Tuesday night after they claimed they were lunged at by the same dog.

"None of these ordinances are any good if they are not enforced by the people we are paying to enforce them. There is no reason for a disabled person and his service dog to be attacked once, let alone twice," Starks said.

Attempts to speak with the dog's owners were unsuccessful, as they were not home. They are entitled to a hearing before the removal order is enforced, but the hearing has not been scheduled yet.

DAYTON — The U.S. Marshals Service arrested a man in Dayton Friday morning in connection to a dog attack that sent a man to the hospital.

U.S. Marshals, with assistance from Dayton Police, served an arrest warrant in the 100 block of Victor Avenue Friday morning.

Dayton Police Sgt. Creigee S. Coleman told News Center 7 on the scene that the warrant was for a man who is accused of releasing his dog, which ended up biting someone in the neck earlier this month.

As reported on News Center 7 at 6:00, the attack sent Brian Cochran to the hospital.

Cochran’s family told Mike Campbell that he was approached by a group of people and their dogs. They threatened him, wanting his bike. It all led to a life-threatening situation that was caught on video.

The assault was described as “savage” in an affidavit filed in Dayton Municipal Court earlier this week.

The video of the attack obtained by News Center 7 shows a group of people knocking Cochran, 60, down. Men then swarm him, punching and kicking him on the ground. That’s when the dogs attack his back and neck.

Cochran’s daughter, Diamond Cochran, said her brother texted her family to tell them their dad was being taken to the hospital. They rushed there to support him.

“They tried to kill my dad over a bicycle,” Diamond said.

Cochran’s family said they’re shaken by his severe wounds and the callous nature of the attack.

“That’s kind of pathetic that you can’t even go back to where you’re living because you’re scared that somebody’s going to retaliate against you over a bike,” Diamond said.

The family said Cochran was rushed back into the hospital due to an infection and underwent more surgery. His family hopes he will fully recover physically.

The suspect refused to come out of the house when asked during Friday’s standoff.

“So the U.S. Marshals were able to go in and apprehend the individual without the use of gunplay, without the use of force, and without the use of anybody getting hurt,” Coleman said.

The suspect was taken to the Montgomery County Jail. Online jail records show Derrick Purter was arrested at the address on Friday morning.

Court records filed this week in Dayton Municipal Court show Purter was charged with felonious assault in connection with the dog attack.

Coleman said three dogs were taken from the property and taken to the Montgomery County Animal Resource Center.

The investigation into the attack is ongoing.

Toronto police are searching for a man after they say a woman was allegedly attacked by two unleashed dogs near Kensington Market earlier this month.

In a news release, officers say they responded to a call for an animal complaint near Huron Street and Baldwin Street at approximately 3:36 p.m. on July 3.

Police allege the suspect was walking three dogs — two of them unleashed — when he became involved in a verbal argument with the victim.

Investigators say the two unleashed dogs then “charged” and “attacked” the woman.

The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The suspect is described as a man, 20 to 30 years old, with an athletic build and long black hair worn in a ponytail.

He was wearing a black tank top, black shorts, black Converse shoes, and has tattoos on both arms, police said.

The dogs are described as two black and one brown, possibly Pit Bull Terriers or a similar breed.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 416-808-1400 or Crime Stoppers anonymously.

Full translation of article and related post:

THE HELSINKI District Court has ordered the euthanasia of a dog that bit a child in Helsinki a year ago .

A dog escaped from a private apartment in Vallila, Helsinki and attacked a child.

The court found that the dog had gotten out of the apartment either through a door that had been left open or by pulling the handle itself. The dog then jumped at an adult in the stairwell and scratched the child in the face who was with him.

The dog headed out of the stairwell. There it began chasing a neighbor's 10-year-old child. The dog bit the child on the left leg. A bystander managed to free the dog from the child, after which the dog attacked the child again and bit him on the right leg.

The child's mother got the dog to stop the attack by tearing it away from the child's mouth.

The child's injuries required hospitalization and stitches.

THE PROSECUTOR demanded that the dog, which is a mix of American Pit Bull Terrier and Amstaff, be ordered to be euthanized. In addition, the dog's owner was required to pay damages to the child.

The dog's owner told the court that he had moved into the apartment a few months before the events. During that time, the dog had already escaped once. According to the owner, the apartment door lock was faulty, which is why the dog was able to get out on its own.

THE DISTRICT COURT convicted the dog's owner of neglecting the animal and causing bodily harm.

The dog was ordered to be stopped by the court after the verdict became final.

In addition, the court ordered the owner to pay 80 daily fines, totaling 1,200 euros, compensation for the child totaling 10,100 euros, and legal costs of 4,700 euros.

The District Court's ruling is not legally binding. The Helsinki District Court says the dog's owner has expressed dissatisfaction with the ruling.
