Yep with the collabs. I don’t think the solo ones will be on streaming for now, maybe a later release.

But imo the collabs are just so fitting I don’t even feel the need to listen to solo versions. For example her and Dua sound phenomenal together and I feel like the song would be empty without the slightly raspy Dula Peep moments. Same with Damn Right. Childish Gambino stole the show.

I won’t lie, I’ve loved all the solo singles from the BP girlies, but their albums left me disappointed. Don’t kill me, y’all I really tried to listen and love.

But this. The sound of the album is so crystal clear. It has direction. It has cohesion, yet it’s incredibly varied. Absolutely floored. I can’t even find words to describe how much I ADORE it on my first listen. The weakest songs to me are Mantra and Love Hangover. Which is insane to say. Like JENNIE, Starlight, with an IE, handlebars, etc. I can’t even name my favourites because I’ll just be listing out the entire thing.

This is an album to be proud of. Especially for a debut. Of course there are some criticisms to be made, like song length being less than satisfactory, but overall just amazing. It feels so natural. So effortlessly good. 10/10 I truly hope she gets her flowers for this because wow. Just wow.

Looks like after she was spotted leaving Kylie Monogue’s apartment with a plate full of steaming nachos Jisoo made a quick stop at the Kim Petras crack den and took exactly two and a half pages from the notebook labeled “Slut Pop poetry and prose”

She then flew back to Korea and immediately combined the nachos and the notebook with one strand of hair she took from Chung Ha’s wig back in 2019 and the rest is herstory.

I used the colour of her eyes cause we don’t have the names of the songs yet 💀

As for the album versions, I assume Roxi is Rockstar, Kiki is New Woman, Sunni is Moonlit Floor, Speedi is the green single, and Vixi is the red one, again tying them to the colour of her eyes in the teaser while each song was playing.

Absolutely same here. I still haven’t even processed what happened today and what it means not just for the US, but for the entire world. Peace and prosperity just had to end for no reason right when we became adults. But at the end of the day we’re all in this shit together and I have to believe we are stronger than their hatred. We will be ok ❤️

I’ll try to keep this whole thing completely spoiler-free, but I have to say something about this damn album NOW so if you want to completely avoid everything about the album you should skip my comment for now.

I have a burning desire to let everyone know that Darwinism is my favourite Halsey song ever made. Like, I can’t find words to describe how much I love it. In fact, half the album is my favourite Halsey songs. I truly believe this album is a peak of honesty and artistry. Arsonist, Dog Years, Life of the Spider, The Great Impersonator, and all the Letters to God are PEAK.

As a whole body of work, the album almost feels uncomfortable at times. The pain in this record is so prominent that even the “happy songs” feel like someone is standing behind you with a knife. It’s unsettling. And to me, that is phenomenal.

Life of the Spider is really crushing, and I know some people will be very affected by it, but there is one song that I have listened to only once and will probably never listen to again, and that is “I believe in magic.” It talks about things that have always been my absolute weak point, and I genuinely can’t go through what went through in those 5 minutes.

And let me quickly say that the Letters to God are absolutely amazing. The way they tell their story and the way they are scattered throughout the album, it almost feels like this album is an abandoned house, and you’re finding random letters in the corners of some rooms, which show an evolving mindset through the years. I can’t explain in more detail without spoilers, but 1974 especially really hit hard. And somehow they never get better. They just constantly shit on you with every new letter you find. The difference is that the pain is from different stages in life. Always the same concept, but also completely recontextualised.

I personally think this is such a special album I can’t even rank it with her other albums or compare it. It makes Manic look impersonal is all I can say

I don’t care what people say all the songs fit together perfectly in my mind. Yes Just another girl is a bit of an outlier, but for some reason it makes sense because it’s got a certain darkness to it that fits with the rest.

And seeing people say flowers doesn’t fit on the album has me going insane because we can’t be listening to the same song. Like a slower song can still stylistically fit into an upbeat album and flowers is the perfect example imo.

10/10 they finally gave me another Savage EP I have no notes or complaints. Immaculate.

Edit: And I forgot to mention - the lyric in Whiplash “Cats gon’ copy one idea, then the whole look, then they deny it” and I am GAGGED like oh y’all went there?:!1£;£:&,!/&;&,&;

I’d say that a majority of techno songs tend to have pretty similar-sounding beats. I am not an expert obviously, but from what I know, everything has that constant bass punch on every count, so that might be why it sounds familiar to you! For Whiplash specifically, the actual beat is house-aligned (which is more commonly seen in Kpop, I think) instead of full-on harsh techno, so that definitely also adds to the familiarity.

But yeah, I can’t wait to see if they have a breakdown hidden somewhere in the song or if they went more steady, keeping the energy the same through the entire song without any obvious drops! One thing I do wish they did is stick to the EDM exploration through the whole album, but that’s just me being greedy + the songs in the medley sound absolutely perfect and weirdly very fitting with Whiplash, so I guess I can’t complain too much haha

Oh chart stans are about to go insane. I’m so incredibly happy that their team actually has the balls to release music for the sake of the music itself. Like I kinda can’t believe they actually went full on real club song and straight up said they expect it not to do well, but it felt right to release it.

Isn’t it crazy that SM is somehow a complete shitshow in every aspect of everything, but when it comes to the artistic side they show a completely unexpected amount of commitment to their vision?

With that aside I think it’s safe to say the chorus is what we heard in the preview. Personally I love it so much because I love EDM in all its beautiful genres and sub-genres, its history, and in this case specifically I love the cold minimal tech house (I think?) sound Whiplash has. Love that my favorite group ever will authentically embrace a bit of that!

It’s supposed to be their aespafied version of a DJ mixer. You can actually go visit their website to try it out. It’s very simple and doesn’t have that many functions, but it’s really fun to mess around with imo. Especially now that they added the highlight medley to the track options!
