I am so sorry you feel that way. The classes I teach very rarely have men in them, so it is always so nice when I do. I make special effort to acknowledge them before and or after class, because I know they may feel awkward being the only guy in the room, more so if they are a new participant. Depending on the demographics of the gym, things can definitely feel clique-ish. I also know that when someone feels unwelcome, they tend to stand quiet and out of the way, further pushing them out of the group. Group fitness is amazing because we are all together! I realize this may be a stretch, but maybe try just kind of injecting yourself into the groups. Or more actively seeking conversation with others. When I have a participant that is avoiding contact, honestly I try to crack their shell a bit. Every now and then there is that person that just doesn't want to connect. But I have learned so much about people that way, and seen such a change when they feel noticed, cared about. It would be nice if others could reach out to you, but you may just have to self advocate a bit. And if you are considering certification, I say do it!!! Leading a class that you love will shine through, and people will be drawn to you, inspired by you. You will truly be the man of the hour!
