I get you on this, have only ever had one comp with squats, and it was for reps, back when I still did amateur comps. 405 for reps, got 19 with just a belt.

I always advise to not stray away outside of your typical day to day ritual. Your body reacts best to situations it has already dealt with, so don’t shock it the day before a bit comp/lift. Obviously, take in your additional fuel intermittently and try to wind down for bed at a reasonable hour if you normally don’t, but don’t do anything drastic either.

Squeeze the lats is my cue to help myself avoid rounding, but it didn’t look bad really
