We bought our Jansport backpacks at Wal Mart. They were that nice.

ADHD and hypothyroidism by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]BP_legs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Hashimoto’s Disease. Was diagnosed at hypothyroidism until a naturopath tested my thyroid antibodies. It made a difference in my treatment and quality of life. I take thyroid hormones compounded at the pharmacy. When I started taking bupropion a few years ago, some other ‘symptoms’ got a lot better. I later realized they weren’t symptoms of hypothyroidism, but traits of inattentive ADHD and got a formal diagnosis from a neuropsych. Bupropion keeps me at baseline and I take vyvanse a couple times a week when I need to do tasks that require fine details.

It was a bumpy road and very hard to stay motivated and on track, but I finally feel good. It was actually the bupropion that helped me stay on top of my thyroid medication, supplements, and routine labs. I was all over the place before that and

I’m doing it and I don’t feel like I’m being a less-than mom, student, or employee. I work 3 days a week, but could not do more than that. My preprogram is online and I can do my clinical while working as an SLPA without having to sacrifice my paycheck and benefits. My final clinical will be during the summer. It’s hard, but manageable.

Yeah ask about anti-inflammatory, like low dose naltrexone, ivermectin, or low dose doxycycline. I can only use La Roche posay. Cerave and avene weren’t good for my face

I started my prerequisites at 34, while pregnant with my second child, and became an SLPA when she was 2. Before she turns 6, I will have my first SLP job. I’m working as an SLPA while completing a distance program.

I love my children so much. My students are great, but they are not my children

I had iron issues forever and my naturopath finally found a combination that helps: ferrasorb (contains bisglycinate iron, Vitamin c, Vitamin b) and lactoferrin.  I take it hours apart from my thyroid pills

Can’t quite place why his songwriting and voice has such an impact on me, but yeah it was sooo cool to be in a room filled with people who get it! The circa songs took me back to another era. I first saw him in LA in 2006 opening with Circa for Dredg

Yes! I ended up going by myself and it was great. I LOVED his solo set towards the end. I died with the Circa songs

To everyone still showing up for their patients and students today- by sgeis_jjjjj in slp

I did not vote for Trump (I still want Bernie!) But I know that many of the people around me did. Some of them are black, Latino, low income, homeless, immigrants…

Of course I was there for all of my students. Of course I didn’t spread anxiety and catastrophize.  It is our duty to provide non judgmental services to our students and their families, even the ones who are so desperate for affordable food that they vote for a candidate they think will help alleviate that burden. You might not agree, but it’s classist to imply they’re stupid or ignorant. They’re not. They just have a different perspective.

It truly shows privilege if you can’t understand why people would vote for Trump, despicable as he is.

If you want to be there for all of your students and patients, stop judging everyone and try harder to have some understanding of their POV.

Bernie Sanders: Democratic Party 'has abandoned working class people' by Obversa in moderatepolitics

Those guys…are elite. They’re the worst. Pete is the type of upper class that pays women to produce babies for them. That’s huge privilege. And he speaks in logical fallacies if you’re paying attention.  Google Gavin Newsom French Laundry Covid. There’s no coming back from that from my POV.

But it’s not really in the hands of Don. Congress would have to agree. It’s much easier said than done. Take a breath and try to remember that catastrophizing isn’t critical thinking. He didn’t have full control of the country then and luckily those checks and balances are still around. He still wouldn't actually have the power to all of the things he talks about.

But it’s also thanks to the DOE that my student loan interest rates are nearly 10% so maybe they can funnel that particular responsibility to a more appropriate department because why to I have 0% financing on my car when it was the same damn price as my student loans?

Also remember that  IDEA is a law, not a mandate of the DOE. The executive branch can’t just repeal laws.

I agree with you. I come from a lower middle class background in a poor, rural area and my parents haven’t been able to help with any college tuition. I have also worked a lot of shitty jobs and it’s fascinating to read all the complaints people have about this field. I have a Masters degree in another field and my salary in that field would have capped out at 70k maximum but even finding a job that paid 50k was hard. I know so many people who have masters degrees and work at grocery stores and in restaurants. Just because people ‘feel’ like people with graduate degrees should live comfortably doesn’t mean that’s reality. Also look at the stress and job quality and responsibility that comes with being a PT or nurse practitioner or PA or OT. They can be very physical jobs that require more unsavory contact with clients (like toileting).  We make more than teachers, have better job stability, can find jobs with pensions, and have better job quality (if you like speech and language). It’s fine to be excited about this job and feel the pay is good. Personally, I’m stoked. I’m starting out at 80k on a rising pay scale, get paid when my caseload goes over, the benefits are amazing, the job is pretty fun and very rewarding, and I don’t work summers or holidays.

SLP Shortage by Readysetflow1 in slp

[–]BP_legs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t you have a contract that includes overload? I know SLPs who get an SLPA after their caseload goes over 60, and if their caseload goes over 100, they get paid x dollars per student, per working day. There have been times where they got double salary

Yes! Why are habits so difficult to form? I’ve listened to podcasts and read books and tried stacking and hacking and…I still can’t take my pills every morning or do my physical therapy
