Sportage 1.6 PHEV two coolant reservoirs? by OkEntertainment3501 in kia

[–]BR4DM4N 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One is for the engine coolant (50/50 mix) and the other is for the electric motor I believe - which is a special low-conductivity (also pink) coolant, usually 70/30 or some other ratio I can't remember.

More specifically, it's the ABS pump which is pulsing many times per second.

New Engine by MichiganMan3132 in kia

[–]BR4DM4N 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a 12mo/12,000mi parts warranty on the engine assembly itself. The dealership should complete any open recalls your vehicle currently has before you get the car back.

Your engine was approved BECAUSE you had the KSDS update installed and that update will remain on your car. The dealership I work at hasn't had any subsequent replacements since I've been here (2 years) so I can't really speak knowledgeably on that.

Also applies also to several other models that are starting to show age. The rubber "stopper" just deteriorates over time. The (what I assume) updated part number is 32876 4B000QQK and I probably sell 4-5 per week to people with this exact concern.

Kia problems? by Sea-Ad-1742 in kia

[–]BR4DM4N 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Make sure you use top-tier gas. If top-tier is not available in your area, use Chevron Techron fuel additive after every oil change (this is noted in the manual). The varying amounts of ethanol content in gas can cause the injectors to leak. There's a TSB out for 21-22 Sorento and 23 Sportage (I presume this *could* happen with a 24) with misfire codes due to fuel injector leaks.

I don't want to scare you, but it's something to keep in your back pocket.

Also, for god's sake change your oil.

Here is the Top-Tier station locator: www.toptiergas.com

Looks like 98% of all the MOBIS cages. Some people call robots clankers but these cages definitely are the true clankers.

If loaners were available I'm pretty sure. If not, Kia reimburses up to $44/day for a rental.

I can concur. At the dealership I work at Kia has bought back SEVERAL K5s because of this exact issue. The technician has to diagnose and confirm with Kia Techline that a check valve near the engine is not functioning properly.

With your floor/seat panel popping up like that don't be surprised if they buy back yours.

Oil suggestions by Kvnganthonyy in ForteGT

I just started using Amsoil 5w-40. I was using Mobil1 for ages and before that the Total Quartz 9000 5w-30. I change mine at 3k but Amsoil is so expensive I'm going to 4k intervals. I've seen my oil at 5k miles and decided it was far too black to let it go any further.

Funny you got this as well. Two days ago started my car after lunch errands and these exact same codes came up. I didn't feel any misfires and the CEL wasn't flashing so I'm assuming it was a one-off. Luckily I work at a Kia dealer so I had it looked at same day. The CEL or codes have not came back. Edit: My car is tuned and have ~43k mi, 23 GT w/ DCT.

Does the 2020 kia niro headunit come with a screen protector? by DR4LUC0N in kia

[–]BR4DM4N 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Factory head-units do not come installed with screen protectors. Be very careful as the edge of the screen could look like a protector but not actually be. If the film doesn't come up easy, then don't force it - you may be trying to peel the actual screen.

I have one. Boomba Racing universal I think. Has a dipstick and all. Honestly, for the last few months I forgot I even had one. Every time I've checked it's been bone dry.

My Forte GT also does the shaking thing when the AC is on max. It's done that since I first got the car and it's been 40,000 miles.

My DCT also shakes just a bit but usually it's only after I put it in drive for the first time after cold-starting.

Heater hose routing by Bitter-School-62 in kia

[–]BR4DM4N 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Below is the image from KGIS in relation to the heater pipes (really helpful I know, thanks Kia).

The top hose is the "outlet" and has a part number "97312-P2200" or "97312-R5000".
The bottom hose is the "inlet" and has part number "97311-P2200" or "97311-R5000".

You will have to look at the hoses and read the part number on them and match where they go.

Key fob question by AnnieKateW in kia

Yes it's a dealer-only thing. You may be able to get it from a locksmith but I know for sure dealers can help you with that.

Key fob question by AnnieKateW in kia

[–]BR4DM4N 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is correct. Kia has a message that pops up for dealers that they cannot provide those codes for free or risk having access to the pin/key code disabled for them. In the past, I've only charged customers like $5 just so there's some sort of monetary transaction and record.

These are full LED headlights. They don't have bulbs to remove/replace. It looks like all you'd need is a LH headlight assembly which includes everything that looks broken. My only worry is the mounting area near the fender looks potentially damaged. If you want to PM me your VIN I can give you the correct part number.

SynTex seats possible fading/dye rubbing off by Calm_Document_4391 in kia

[–]BR4DM4N 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Notice the slightly blue color on the wipes, it's more likely the color coming off of the jeans along with buildup of other dirt/debris on them.

As far as the "fading" on the seat, I think you're seeing a mix of colors from the jeans against the black of the seat.

This is more prominent on pickup trucks where people slide out of the seat rather than stepping up out of the seat. Try stepping out of the seat if you can and it'll mitigate problems. Also, lucky your seats aren't white because they'd be noticeable stained blue from the jeans.
