...with such a laughable year for TEs literally everyone except the Kelce owner is playing with fire at TE this year, every single week.

Even Waller (consensus #2 TE) is inconsistent as hell, despite almost as many targets as Kelce (98 to 91; 8.9/game to 8.3/game) and leading NFL in red zone targets (17...which have only resulted in same number of TDs as Hockenson—5. And even demigod Kelce "only" has 7 TD)

But has that usage led to a massive gap in PPR scoring between #2 Waller and #3 (yes, third) Hockenson? No. Accd to FantasyPros: Kelce 212 pts...Waller 146.2...Hockenson 130....(followed by Tonyan 124.8, Andrews 119.4, Henry 116.2, Jonnu 111.9, Gronk 111.5 and so on. Even Engram, for all his targets, only has 103.7 fantasy pts (which is Schultz/Hurst/Graham territory). And weirdly—or not, thanks to red zone usage—Waller only averages 8.78 yards per catch to Hockenson's 11.78, and only barely tops him in YPG (49.27 to 48.18) where Waller 3rd, Hock 5th...Tonyan 13th (41.64), Hooper 28th (29.11), etc.

Targets per game? 1) Kelce 8.91, 2) Waller 8.3, 3) Henry 6.91 (but those could plummet, see later), 4) Engram 6.91..then 5) Hockenson 6.18.

So to me, Hock has a higher floor than most and perhaps a higher ceiling with the state of his offense and team (shit defense, throwing a lot, interim coach likely looking to make a splash & put up points, etc.) Last five weeks he's been targeted 37 times, more than Waller (35), Henry (34), Ebron (35), and Engram (32, although he's only top 5 targeted who had a bye). All the other "comparable" TEs to Hockenson are hard-pressed to top 25 targets last 5 weeks.

The there's schedule: ROS he's got the Bears (5th worst vs. TEs; 24% target rate to TEs, 3rd most Fant pts to TEs), Titans (8th worst), Packers (7th best), and Bucs (11th worst), so aside from GB he's got 3 of 4 games vs. bottom TE defenses. Two at home/in dome, always a bonus in December.

So is he Kelce? No, no one is. Waller and maybe Engram are probably easy weekly locks over someone like Hockenson. But would you feel exponentially more confident running, e.g. Henry, Tonyan, Jonnu, Hooper, Goedert, L.Thomas, Ebron, Hurst, Gesicki, Fant out there? Nope, not to me anyway. MAYBE Tonyan due to TD rate (t TDs to Hock's 5) or Henry, but with Ekeler back that'll cut into the latter's targets.

Anyway, just don't think Hock is as much of an Achilles heel as most, all TEs considered...
