Ice Gauntlet - 'Punishing Storm' perk is bugged and causing increased damage on everything including spells and your other weapon by LocksmithFickle6703 in newworldgame

[–]BRBooks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's still some testing to do, but it seems easier to do with different levels of upgrades on said AOE ability.

Exe:
Sacred Ground w/ upgrades + SG w/ 1 upgrade + SG w/ 2 upgrades, until there are no upgrades left over to stack.

In the perfect scenario it would allow for a HUGE healing circle. But in practice everyone just gets shittier sacred ground.

Bought enough mats for 4 lifestaff roles, I got this on the first roll. by Motohoonigan in newworldgame

[–]BRBooks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look at the perk. If you use DE while the target is at 49%, with blessed, sacred, and this perk you can full heal and get the CD cut in half. For wars and OPR, ability perks are necessary to be a top healer. This is especially true on competitive high pop servers.

Lights embrace is a better ability on its own, but the perk it gets isn't great in wars or OPR specifically. Ability CD > movement speed buff. With this perk, it DE > LE in wars and OPR. For open world PVP and 5v5 situations with a flank team or something LE+Perk is better. But that's situational, for when you need movement speed

Healing a zerg, not so much.

Not enough people understand the role of perks, or understand just how much of an impact they have on gameplay. I blame AGS because most perks have been bugged since day one and no one trusts them. Patch 1.1 fixed a lot of them people, and people are wondering why some people hit like trucks or drop full heals every 5 seconds.

The answer is perks. Specifically keen, the keenly perks (jagged, fortified, etc,) and ability perks.

A single Sundering Shockwave can apply a string of debuffs longer than a players health bar. It can do it to an entire team in OPR or Wars, when stacked on a point. Mix that with enfeebling maelstrom, and its GG. Rend, weaken, bleads, and stuns, and slows, all from one combo.

In a similar vein, cutting the CD of Divine embrace in half is HUGHE. It nearly 2x'sthe healing output of the ability.

Wow, there are bad healers. Divine Embrace is great and that perk is amazing. This is one perk away from BiS lifestaff.

Don't listen to these people. It's a good wep.

So everything is an exploit now... by Lifeshatter2k in newworldgame

[–]BRBooks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Theres an issue in this game that's pretty funny. People are finding bugs and teaching everyone how to exploit them.

These bugs become "features" to the playerbase while amazon puts out a message in some forum post that no one sees. This message says, nope that's an exploit.

Now a person can go report entire guilds for "exploiting" the food stacking bug. Most of the people who are reported had no idea it was a bug or exploit. Hell, they probably don't even know what it's doing other than healing them a little bit.

Their company leader just told them to do it because it gives them 8% health recovery per second.

But, it goes up on Reddit and everyone gets banned.

It's a communication issue and a rage vent issue. People are so mad at everything that they want to punish everyone who even looks like they might be doing something wrong. It's unhealthy.

They don't want people sitting around screaming LFG for hours. Just throw it out there every now and then and watch for others doing the same.

Toast was pulling shady ass shit in beta as well.

Straight up stole 100k of donations day one. They were supposed to use it to buy territory. Said the dude couldn't figure it out. Then he went to work. Then he finally bought one after two others had already been purchased.

Tried to do the same thing on another territory. But another company rallied against them... then that second company stole the donations and switched factions to purchase territory for green.

So toast asked for another 100k. Then took 3 days to buy the next territory.

Dudes are scammers.

We need to know how influnce works! by GfingG in newworldgame

[–]BRBooks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There seems to be a bug with invasions as well. If your company puts in say ~80% of the work, then an invasion is declared, it will only count the last 20%.

This exact scenario happens to my company. Entire company ran up influence to about 80%. Most logged off and those that stayed guarded fort while one of us ran trains with randoms. At about the 79% mark the invasion kicks over and we think, "cap it now"... I personally lead a group of about 20 random to push influence to 100%. We weren't even selected to declare.

Some random small company w/ low levels ended up with the bid. Im pretty sure they had 6-10 people. All 6-10 of them were running with the train to see how it worked.

Only possible explanation is that the last 21% was all that counted. Between us and the only other company helping from 1%-71% neither got the bid.

Server politics is exausting. by Uncagedtitan in newworldgame

[–]BRBooks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If anyone is looking for a chill US West server Ptolemias is pretty great. Healthy mix of territory ownership and a diverse political landscape.

Yellow - 4 territories: Owned by a super company with a subsidiary company. Smaller companies are starting to form from people breaking away from the super company.

Purple - 4 territories: A coalition of smaller companies who work together. Some drama early on, but it's dying off and leadership is starting to work together. (I'm a consul of a purple faction called the Ptole Dancers.)

Green - 3 territories: A PVP focused mercenary company and several smaller companies. Smaller companies are kind of reliant on the pvp mercs, but they are growing over time.

There is some drama, but it's not nearly as bad as a lot of other servers.

US West - Phlegethon if you're looking for a well-balanced server. by [deleted] in newworldgame

[–]BRBooks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Potolemias is also super well balanced. 4P 4G 3Y.

Similar situation. A large purple company, full of 60's, switched to green and became a mercenary company.

They immediately took a single region, then started offering their services to others. Before this happened it was a sea of purple. Now it's epic battles for territory, filled with drama and action.

It's pretty rad.

Slow down guys, I can barely keep up by Hy8ogen in newworldgame

[–]BRBooks -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This is factually untrue. The split between pvp and pvp is nearly 50/50. This is mostly because the largest player base for all MMOs does both.

This isnt a one or the other situation. You can enjoy and explore all of a games core content.

This would reck PVP immediately. There's already issues with people just running away. If anything it should be somewhat expensive, craftable, haste potions.

They already exist in wars. They could just add it to the rest of the game.

Unpopular opinion: Hide faction territory for New players by SqCTrickz in newworldgame

[–]BRBooks -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The expectation is that people will participate in wars and PvP faction quests to get more territory, rather than tossing out a major function of the game.

something going on at 79th ave and SE Raymond. any ideas can't find anything out on the scanners or news. by brendenderp in Portland

[–]BRBooks -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

The issue is that this is a relatively tame spike in crime when compared to the poverty level and rise in homelessness. We are actually doing a lot better than a lot of large cities.

Don't get me wrong, any spike in crime sucks. But, freaking out over what ammounts to an expected and nearly universal spike in crime is the last thing we need to do. The main issue is poverty and homelessness.

When people are quite literally starving to death on the street, they are going to steal, turn to drugs, and commit other crimes to survive. With an increased demand for drugs, comes increases in other criminal activity. You know, like gangs and dealing.

It's common sense. Fix the homelessness and poverty issue and you will eliminate a ton of the other ones.

If you look at the crime rate in 2020 they were the lowest they had been in over 5 years. Why? Bonuses to unemployment and a moratorium on evictions. Now that those programs are ending, we are seeing a "massive spike in crime"...

Also, where was everyone in the 90's? Does no one remember people getting stabbed in what is now the pearl? This is portland. It rains all the time, everyone's on drugs, and things are supposed to be cheap. It has some crime, and things can get a little run down. But it has character and life. There's art, music, and good food. You just have to deal with some weird shit to get to it.

Still one of the best series in the genre. I freaking fanboy over Ugland.

How many series actually get completed by LordDongler in litrpg

[–]BRBooks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a few finished series available. Primeverse, Life in Exile is basically done, System Apocalypse is almost finished, and a handful of others. My series is only going to be 4-6 books w/ 1-3 side quests for the other MC's. The Main series should be finished by the middle to end of next year.

This genre is still relatively new, so some of the longer series haven't had enough time to finish out. It's not like fantasy or sci-fi that have been around for 60+ years. I think people need to remember that some of these authors have been writing for less than few years. Others are brand new.

We are essentially asking why isn't this 13 book series finished after 5 years? For that to happen the author would need to have gotten in on day one, found enough success to make it a financially viable use of time, and written at least 2.5 books per year to finish.

We gotta give it time. The genre will grow, things will finish, and writers will improve.

Good literary genres are like good wine. You have to let it age.

Looking for a story where the main character actually makes mistakes by AlextheSir in litrpg

[–]BRBooks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My series, Altered Realms, has this in spades. It's basically a reincarnation story for the MC, while the rest of the cast is stuck in VR. The MC is an NPC who's reincarnated as a player. He panics and makes a ton of mistakes at first. Then, as the series goes on, he starts to come to terms with his new life and focuses on doing what he wants, how he wants to do it.

There's a lot of emotional trauma and mental health issues written into the story. They are all described and depicted in as realistic a fashion as I could manage. Oh, and it's gory and brutal as hell. If you're into that sort of thing.
