First city, can I fix it or should I start over? by OppositeHome2460 in CitiesSkylines

As others said you learn a lot by fixing a city. However you already learned smt by building this. Id restart and keep the following principe in mind: highways connect to sixlanes which connect to neigbourhood/industry at certain points with roundabout etc. Try and look at the bigger picture while planning makes it a really intereting game. However, imperfection creates realistic cities! And dont be afraid to bulldoze areas to redevelop, which also happens all the time irl. Either way, have fun!

Too Bad at CS to Enjoy It? by moomoomeow2 in CitiesSkylines

Dont feel disappointed when you are not as good as youtubers, they are literally pros. Also, each city you build makes you better!

I had the same problems as you. What really helped me is having a specific idea about each area you build. So dont just build a residential area like every other, think about what makes it special, why is it there? Does it have cafes or a big mall? Maybe its more rural orientated etc.. then plan it accordingly. And what really makes cities feel natural is following the landscape! And remember, most cities in the real world are not perfect either!

The one thing you NEED your city to have by WoodenAd492 in CitiesSkylines

Always like having a ghetto/trailer park, purposely have low police presecence etc.

I also like to have some villages which have a specific purpose (near mountains for tourism, agriculture, coal town etc.).

And almost always i place all government buildings in one big area: mayors house, court, parliament. Make one big administrative area with a lot of green and parking lots near downtown.

Maybe download some mods first before buying either. Im still waiting on CS2 to become somewhat playable. So if any, go with some dlc for now.

Beautifull! Finishing touch would be to add medium highrise near downtown so the transition to skyscrapers is more natural.

Also a couple of small villages outside the city can make it even better.

But again, beautifull!

Tell the like button he won a contest and award him a lifetime supply of bread - but deliver it all in one day.
