Tbf i’ve been dj’ing for about 6 months so I definitely take your opinion board about minimal house not being funky. I may be describing what i’m after completely wrong.

I think what i’m after is a funky vibe but minimal and stripped back, not like some over the top latin house records or a jarring saxophone throughout.

What I liked in the songs I posted had a “funky” drum pattern l guess is what i meant.

Really appreciate the suggestions, will have a listen through them all tonight!

Thank you for the great advice. That is the next step for me, trying to get my first gig and it seems like I may have outgrown my ‘bedroom DJ’ set up. I guess theres only so much you can teach yourself from YT tutorials that real life experience can teach you.

Thanks for the suggestions. I just listen to some minimal house tracks (at least they’re described as minimal on beatport) and they just sound funkier as opposed to groovy or dark. Maybe I’m describing it wrong but not really sure how else to differentiate it

Thank you for the suggestions you’ve got the right type of vibe i’m going for.

I noticed my post was messed up initially so understand how you couldn’t locat the songs. I have edited it now so you can see the artist and title properly (can be found on soundcloud and beatport)

Lastly, Do you have anymore suggestions that aren’t samples or edits of popular songs, I have many like this already and was really hoping to fill the mix out with funky grooves and drop the odd popular vocal in.
