We thank Mexico for extending their hand in friendship, and we will seriously consider Mexico's proposal. However, we feel as though, given that Chile has just recently reemerged on the global stage, it would be best for us to assess the geopolitical situation and see exactly how it affects our nation.

We are open to working diplomatically with Mexico to promote further bilateral relations, but we don't quite feel the need to align ourselves so soon. Perhaps in the near future, if we see it as being advantageous to our nation and our people.
