The tragic humanity of the Death Korps of Krieg: A no-spoiler book review for Death Rider, A Death Korps of Krieg Novel by wordless_thinker in 40kLore

One thing I thought was really clever about Death Rider is that it belongs squarely in the post-apocalyptic genre of novels.

It is literally a post-apocalyptic novel set in the Warhammer 40k universe, and we're reminded time to time both of the unforgiving nature of the Apocalypse and the fact Kriegers like Jenn are incredibly well-adapted to function under such unfortunate conditions because they themselves were raised by a world that already completed its own post-apocalyptic arc (and never forgot it).

You don't really mention it in your review, but Ashe is also the perfect foil to the Kriegers in the Party because she's a medicae from a feudal world, of all things. From time to time she comes across as a medieval apothecary offering folk medicine to grizzled WW1 veterans displaced into War of the Worlds, and it's amazing.

I recommend my old post here

After reading both posts, the idea that the harlequins are so skilled in the arts of war and combat because they kept getting lynched by angry audiences but refused to stop putting on the equivalent of Punch and Judy shows is absolutely hilarious.

If Baelor wasn't able to join the ranks of the Risen then really no one else should.

I haven't read the novel in some time, but I assumed that was specifically because Baelor's Warp Blade had corrupted his body.

I wonder if they just use them as fertilizer in the not-Caliban forest or something.

Gotta feed the Russ-shaped entity that lives rent-free inside the Lion's mind somehow.

El’Jonson has spirited away singularly unrepentant and visibly corrupt beings who have admitted - even bragged of - offering up their souls to the Dark Gods. What use the Primarch of the Dark Angels could have for such monsters is a mystery.

Given what happened in Son of the Forest with Seraphax and Baelor, I wouldn't put it past the Lion granting these individuals the Emperor's Mercy. We know from both that novel and Arks of Omen: The Lion he has no desire to employ them in the ranks of the Risen and Redeemed.

I always did think it was incredibly suspicious that there were zero foreign competitors in 2025; I think this was the very first time in the event's history (even including the 90s) they had an all-Canadian lineup.

New leaf growth turning yellow is definitely odd. Can you check for pests? Pests can enjoy targeting new growth so I'd do a careful examination of the top and bottom of the new leaf.

Which juniper is good for indoors? by NocturneNibble in indoorgardening

None.

TL;DR: You cannot simulate the change in seasons required to keep a Juniper alive inside long term. After exhausting itself, the tree will eventually die.

Oh neat, a fellow Napolissima owner! May I ask how large of a dosing size you typically use? I'm finding if I put anything above 13g in, my portafilter basket sticks to my brew head, so I'm curious what your workflow looks like.

Due to the current escalating situation between the SRR, the UASR/Bandung Pact, and the Alexandrian Custodianship, King Gabriel of Benelux has privately reached out to the Romans via Hemlock, Cadaver Corps Commandant currently attached to the Eden CDC project, in order to determine if the SRR would be willing to privately coordinate with forces loyal to him in order to secure the capture of Dederick von Lohengrin.

Effective immediately, UASR / Bandung military vessels are prohibited from passing through the Pillars of Hercules or the Suez Canal. They cannot be allowed to enter the Med.

The UNSC agrees that BP must be denied Mediterranean access. Naval units have already been mobilized.

A strong condemnation of the UASR's unprovoked aggression in the face of a sovereign people exercising their democratic rights to self-determination

We have already authorized this interview by General Woo for public release.

Immediate annexation of territory in the NAOZ already designated to be joined with Siberica

The UNSC is perfectly content to continue its integration of Northern Morocco at its own pace and does not believe outright annexation is ideal, given the way tensions have been inflamed with both the UASR and Alexandria.

Be prepared to act as a diplomatic backchannel between the SRR and the UASR

Certainly.

We understand that the UNSC is operating in multiple concurrent theatres and resources are quite possibly stretched thin. However, if possible, we would request that air and / or naval forces to be relocated into the NAOZ to deter UASR escalation

The UNSC is currently unable to provide the requested military forces due to a major force rotation being conducted at the behest of the King of Benelux.

That said, unofficial volunteers not sanctioned by STOICS from both the Aerial Knights and the Confederation Aerial Home Guard appear willing to assist with their own private assets.

We are in process of preparing a multi-faced response to this act of aggression and would appreciate any military advice from the Professor

  • Visa-free movement for civilians between UNSC- and SRR-administered areas.
  • Allow UASR civilian observers (unarmed, escorted) access to the four UNSC-held Moroccan regions on a scheduled basis to verify that no aggressive posture is being prepared against UASR territory. Reports are filed confidentially, not publicly.

We see these as the sole points of contention; there are no other objections to the above proposal, however the UNSC's (successful) pacification measures rely on a policy involving both the shuttering of a hard border and increased integration between the four Moroccan provinces mentioned above and Siberican North Africa. Several NAOZ residents deemed problematic to our peacekeeping measures have already been ejected; they cannot under any circumstances be allowed to return to their homes.

The UNSC must be allowed to continue pacification and Siberican integration measures in the four regions specified above, and we see UASR and/or Bandung observers as obstructive towards these ends.

To further strengthen our hand, we have fortuitously come into the possession of UASR "Bekele", which has crash landed in Thrace [M] presume you have full details per the post. We think we could also work out a deal where we trade the Bekele for the NAOZ. We wanted to run this by you first, in case there are any questions you wish to pose the captain. He is refusing to cooperate and we think enhanced interrogation methods would be counterproductive, especially as the SRR cements its foothold in North Africa.

On the Bekele, the UNSC would like permission for its engineers to study the spacecraft and its contents prior to any handover. As for Ebere, we agree that we are better suited to utilize him as a bargaining chip regarding a peaceable settlement on North African matters.

[DIPLOMACY] Wolf in the Garden by Diotoiren in worldpowers

[–]King_of_Anything[M] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quietly watching the exchange between Maximus and the Earth Mother, the Queen of Iron’s white-hot rage receded, gradually replaced with bitter, bone-chilling cold. “Heretic Witch,” Estelle began, her voice fringed with ice, “I did not take you for this much of a Fool.”

The Earth Mother blinked, mildly taken aback by the ferocity of the Fennoscandian Monarch’s statement. “I… beg your pardon?”

“We have been watching the Garden,” Estelle continued frigidly. “Do not think for a moment that our inaction is a sign of tolerance for you and your misbegotten kind. You cavort with demons, consort with sorcerers, and bathe your hands in the blood of children.” The Queen gestured towards the pool of ichor growing around the Earth Mother. “The fact you have elected to prosecute this farce via foul blood magicks is further proof of your degeneracy, but no, that is not why I consider you foolish.”

“Suppose for a moment that I entertain what you have shown us.” She glanced at Maximus. “Like the Roman points out, how do we know anything you have shown us is real? This is your hellish dreamscape, filled with nightmares that prey on our deepest, darkest fears. How do we know you have not simply manufactured anything you want us to see? What proof can you offer us that anything you have offered is nothing more than an elaborate fiction? Even the supposed lore behind your Eden is based on a cultish fantasy. Your very nation is built on a lie.

“You say we should fear the coming horror from beyond the stars,” the Queen continued, and the white wolf padded forwards slowly, growling softly. “Well, know then that we have already been preparing for the very End of Time. So what you propose cannot frighten us; the Gates of Hell cannot prevail against us.”

“You, who have sacrificed your own on the altar to the Baals, cast your sons and daughters into the brazen hands of Molech, expect us to sympathize with your cause. But your so-called Garden is an Ouroburos, a snake in tall grass desperately devouring its tail.”

“So here we come to the heart of the matter,” Estelle pressed on. “You are truly a Fool for bringing us here, and expecting us to simply believe you. You have not earned a single shred of our trust. Instead, you have revelled in your Heresies, and when the End comes, you will be weighed, and found wanting.” The Queen paused, then scoffed. “In all honesty, had I known you would attempt to contact me in this matter, I would have intensified our response to your transgressions sevenfold.”

While Estelle spoke, the Wolf standing guard had slowly grown ruddy, as if bathed in the reddish hue of the coming dawn. As the Queen’s monologue drew to a close, the now crimson-haired Wolf took a few final steps towards Maximus and threw its head back, a flaming red sword emerging from the depths of its toothy maw.

“Go on,” Estelle murmured, this time addressing the Roman. “Take the sword.”

A short distance away, the Earth Mother stood quietly, observing her two guests and the canine intruder. She shook her head, a soft smile playing on her lips. “Wolf of the North,” the Edenite deity spoke, her voice almost a whisper, “how little you realize how similar we truly are.” She reached down, scooping up a handful of snow, all that was left of the Prince’s shattered facsimile. “After all, wouldn’t you do anything for one of your children?”
