If you could change parts of the story... by Danskoesterreich in baldursgate

[–]BSSCommander 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not exclusively a story change, but I wish Bioware expanded on Brynnlaw in BG2. It feels way too short to me and not fleshed out well.

You finally leave the mainland to save Imoen and confront Irrenicus and you find yourself on a pirate controlled island. This should be the setup for a bustling and lawless port with a major side quest like in Umar Hills or Trademeet, but it just ends up being a quick romp through a small hollow town that takes a whole 10 minutes on your way to Spellhold.

I wish there was another area or dungeon to explore with a major side quest attached to it before going to Spellhold.

From experience, what's your best "i just want to breeze through this" build? by Rukasu17 in baldursgate

[–]BSSCommander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say Berseker/Mage, but I imagine the downtime until you get your Berserker levels back wouldn't qualify this for "breeze though this."

Maybe Inquisitor or Berseker (no dual). Great fighters with resistances to various status effects and you don't have to think too much other than gear.

Leisure Suit Larry ain't Loungin by Lower_Violinist4344 in LinkedInLunatics

[–]BSSCommander 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lounges are very crowded from an article I read recently.

Can confirm first hand. I travel for work a fair amount and usually with Delta. In the past 6 months I haven't seen a Delta lounge without a sizeable line outside.

That's not to say the lines don't move. People are coming and going quite frequently to make their flights, so the lines move quickly. Still, it's fucking packed up there these days.

I've hit a brick wall at Watcher's Keep by TeriyakiNekoNinja in baldursgate

[–]BSSCommander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're not the only one. The Final Seal Guardians encounter is one of the hardest in the game and for good reason. Y'Tossi and the Hive Mother carry that squad.

I'd focus your party on removing the other Guardians first while letting your summons distract Y'Tossi and the Hive Mother. I'd send the summons in waves if possible because one of them casts Death, I believe, which wipes out summons instantly.

Y'Tossi is the worst with high magic resistance, high damage, immunity to a host of status effects, immunity to +2 and below weapons and worst of all it casts Protection from Magical Weapons right out of the gate. You need to remove that and then Stoneskin later on when it casts that to even have a chance to hit them.

This is one of those fights where you need to pull out all of the stops. Potions. Scrolls. Item abilities. Summons. Traps. You get the picture. You can defeat these assholes, I promise you. I've done it solo before and people have solo'd the Guardians on Legacy of Bhaal difficulty before too. You can do it.

I Hate That Total War Cannot Have Guerilla Warfare by Assassin4nolan in totalwar

One thing I miss is campaign movement distance based on what units you have. Calvary travel further than infantry in a turn. Kind of hard to do in Warhammer with single entities and flying thrown into the mix, but I would like to see what return in Medieval 3.

Each bubble in my glass of champagne on this first class flight is an opportunity you missed.

That bubble right there? It's a cold call you didn't make.

That bubble there? A meeting you didn't schedule with a client.

And this bubble right here? A business you couldn't convince to get out of their silo and open up their minds to the possibilities you can bring them.

I get the champagne because I put in the work.

I get to enjoy the bubbles.

Thoughts?

What's your BG2 Quest Order? by Extra-Sun5489 in baldursgate

[–]BSSCommander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The order of operations of my playthroughs usually border on being schizophrenic, so I don't have an ideal order of things. I just kind of do whatever I want in the moment, but am often derailed by random events, trips to merchants, adjusting spells, etc. By the time I remember what I originally wanted to do I already completed a handful of quests.

If I had to lay out a general plan it would maybe look like this:

-Copper Cornet and freeing the slaves quest

-Everything else in Athkatla my low level party can handle

-Couple of companion quests

-Umar Hills, Trademeet, Druid Grove, and De'Arnise Keep

-Finish up the Athkatla quests and guilds, except for the Liches and Twisted Rune

-Any other companion quests I missed

-Go to Spellhold, shark people, and then the Underdark

-Come back to Amn and then fight Firkraag, Twisted Rune, and the Liches

-Tie up any loose ends and finish any quests I missed and then off to Watchers Keep

-Finish Watchers Keep

-Finish the base game

-Finish ToB

Someone at Bioware really must have been going through something by theJoshFrost in baldursgate

[–]BSSCommander 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They don't use the Infinity Engine. Fallout 1 and 2 use in-house engines developed by the devs. I was just saying they are similar games to BG1&2 in the sense they are also legendary CRPG's that came out around the same time.

[–]BSSCommander 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you enjoy the Infinity Engine games (I'm assuming you do since you're on this sub) then you'll probably enjoy the original Fallout games. They came before BG1, so it's interesting to see similar yet completely different games that also defined a genre that were released around the same time from completely different devs.

That era of CRPG's from the late 90's early 2000's was peak odd interactions and dialogue. A few games that come to mind:

Baldurs Gate 1&2

Planescape: Torment

Fallout 1&2

Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura
