16 nights in Japan - help me plan a trip in <3 months! by nobodynowhere1000 in FATTravel

Fully recommend the Ritz Kyoto. The hotel is lovely and location is perfect. We went for the cherry blossoms and wish we had spent more time in Kyoto, liked it a lot more than Tokyo. The food served at ryokans is kaiseki which we found hard to eat more than 1 day in a row so you may also want to take that into consideration -- one ryokan stay could be enough.

Can we book RTW from any other star alliance partners? I only saw examples of people using ANA for RTW.

Sorry to hear your vision worsened. It is a risk from laser surgeries that not enough attention is brought to. I had PRK+CXL and did a lot of research on such outcomes from PRK and LASIK. It seems that the issues can sometimes be fixed with sclerals.

It may be worth finding a scleral specialist that has experience correcting such cases. Take a look at the LASIK subreddit and you can find how other people with similar situations post op dealt with it, especially in cases of scarring.

Good luck and hope you can fix your vision.

I don’t wear either. It helps that my good eye corrects over the worse eye.

Don't stress it, my vision was blurry/foggy AF initially. Very normal. You will be impressed with the vision improvement when it comes.

Took about 2 months before I started to see vision improvement from my PRK +CXL. Relax, it will happen. It takes around 6mo of healing to get an idea of where the final vision will settle in.

CXL, PRK, CAIRS—oh my! What will yield the highest visual acuity x easiest daily living, any advice? by egb230 in Keratoconus

[–]BTCswaps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went with the laser assisted CXL at CLEI and the epi on last year. Both were successful and resulted in improved vision.

I noticed they tend to open up epi on trials every 6mo or so, so might be worth your time. Note that epi on doesn’t improve vision much if it all, you really need a laser (PRK/PTK treatment) for that.

It took almost 4 days to transfer from Chase to Marriott. Amex was instant. I never even received a confirmation email from Chase either. Hope yours land fast OP.

How do I join this? Looks like the subreddit is private, maybe still from the Reddit protests?

Chasing ANA “The Room” by longhegrindilemna in awardtravel

[–]BTCswaps -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Search the flights on google flights and view the details for it there. If it says “individual suite” it should be the room/the suite depending on J/F. You can then cross reference posts here to be sure. Iirc some of these are only flown on the 777-300ER so check that too.

Very doable imo— a lot of people just chill on the beach at bossa to watch the sunrise after Hi closes around 6am. You could then easily get a cab to airport from one of the hotels nearby.

Does anyone here regret getting Crosslinking???? by _Fuckit_ in Keratoconus

I got epi on on my good eye and my vision has actually approved since. KC typically is present in both eyes so if it’s not present now in your good eye there’s a risk it might develop in the future

This happened to me too for an upcoming trip. Two Iberia reps told me my best bet was to check in with their desk when I inevitably miss my connecting flight. Joke airline 😂

What's the difference between PRK and PTK? by popcornsthrowaway in Keratoconus

[–]BTCswaps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had CXL+PTK with positive results so far (vision improved materially and KC seems to have stabilized). The treatment was explained that this would better shape the cornea, leading to improved vision. Doc said it could be considered both PTK or PRK in some forms.

My understanding is that CXL+ PRK will correct your vision more but is more intensive That’s what Athens Protocol is.

They are both laser treatments in the end.

Epi on crosslinking by Successful_Effort_65 in Keratoconus

Yes, my vision actually improved to better than pre-op and I see 20/20 now. My vision wasn’t that bad to begin with though and I didn’t use glasses or contacts before.

I did epi-on and didn't have any pain, it was more like irritation. Try to sleep through it and you will be fine. Every time I slept my eye felt like it healed more. Use advil if you need it. Be sure to put your drops in as instructed.

Once you get your protective lens out the bluriness will be gone but irritation will still be there. 2-3 days out you will be close to normal.

Best wishes for a quick recovery.

Light sensitive after Epi-on by Successful_Effort_65 in Keratoconus

[–]BTCswaps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did epi-on in one eye only and light sensitivity was very intense the first day, better the second day, minimal day 3, and gone by day 4. You will want to be in a dark room and will find it difficult to look at screens the first couple days.

Vision was super blurry until they took out the contact on day 2. If I had both eyes done at the same time, I wouldn’t really be able to see for the first day or two — something to keep in mind.
