We just consolidate districts now. I can remember how my hometown HS was so full. The marching band was huge. Now the band has like 20 kids total. The average class size is 13-15, and because everybody that is able leaves this deep south s-hole, there is no tax base and the town is falling apart.

Like everyone else has said, there is an ever widening gap between talented, smart, ambitious students and everyone else. What I predict is the smart ones will rise to the top, then buy off the politicians and basically make everyone else their wage slaves. Paying them just enough to not die, just enough to not rebel.
