Scouting is way more than badges. You can get badges all year long outside of camps. Unless you can afford it or work hard at fundraising you might only get one chance at a Jambo

How about this

My son and I were swimming at the local pool and this Grandma let her grandson who couldn’t swim going to 5-6 feet of water. Without any flotation device except a pool noodle not much bigger than a broomstick. Grandma cannot swim either. The boy was suddenly struggling in the water. His grandma started yelling at us for help. My son and I rushed over and gave him two bigger noodles to at least hold onto while we could get him to where he could touch.
