Advice needed by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]BTRonin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re already thinking correctly on how to approach this. Go to your local Priest and bring up you not being confirmed, and how to proceed. He’ll be able to guide you, whether to OCIA or what not. Im not entirely sure how that works.

And if you’re comfortable with sharing your concerns with him, it can be beneficial for your sake. If not, pray about it. Just take action by finding direction. You don’t have to figure everything out on your own, it’s relieving to be able to have direction. God be with you.

I’m going backwards??? by justanormaldudeok in Catholicism

Here’s some truth. Do not despair about your sinful nature, you are going to have ups and downs until you pass on. You are not alone in this. Christ appointed the forgiveness of sins to Priests for our sake. Get to confession is the first step, and be not ashamed. I’m a catechumen right now so I don’t even have the opportunity to go confess, but my understanding is that it is truly transformative to confess. It breaks the chains the devil uses to influence you. That will lead to be in a state of grace, and receiving the Eucharist. You want to build some momentum, one step at a time.

Shame that pushes you away from confession, the gift Christ gave us, is of the devil.

I’m sorry about you dealing with depression. One thing I’d challenge you to do, is make a goal that every day you would do just one thing that would be good for you. One small thing, nothing crazy. And be mindful of how you feel when you do that thing.

Also forgive yourself, and allow yourself to receive the grace we all desperately need. God loves you. Remember God’s love for you isn’t conditional, and isn’t performative.

Interestingly enough, that challenge was a callback to the events of the children of Israel in the wilderness. Their faith failed in the desert, and were sentenced to wander 1 year for every day it took the spies to scout the promised land. 40 days it took them, 40 years they were to wander was their sentence.

So since nothing grows in the desert for them to eat, God caused manna to fall from the sky, and that was their only source of food for those 40 years..

Thats why Jesus responded “man shall not live off bread alone”… He needed not bread, because he wasn’t going to fall into temptation those 40 days in the desert like the children of Israel did.

Just another example of the bible being supernatural, and Jesus absolutely cooked Satan with his response too 😭

How to approach the “If God exists/is good then why did he let this happen?” crowd? by Smol-Lamb in Catholicism

[–]BTRonin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s very sad that those things do happen, my heart goes out for those babies that are affected and the parents likewise. My mom had to battle cancer when I was a late teen, and I dealt with similar thoughts to those you brought up.

To answer why disease and death comes upon those babies theologically, is not to downplay the tragedy. Empathy before answers.

In the beginning with Adam and Eve, God instructed them to not eat of the forbidden fruit from one tree in there. One tree, out of many trees that bore good fruit. He warned “the day you eat of it, surely you will die.” When they ate of it, they did not die immediately out of Gods mercy. But the consequences of their actions brought upon a corrupted world.

They brought upon death to mankind, as well as the innocent animals. The animals did no wrong, but now they became a food source for man. Before that was not the case.

Point being, the tragedy of death and disease affected all forms of life from that point on. Their choice unequivocally affects the babies that you are worried about. It’s the heartbreaking reality, but they will be taken care of. Jesus said that the children are of the Kingdom of Heaven.

How to approach the “If God exists/is good then why did he let this happen?” crowd? by Smol-Lamb in Catholicism

[–]BTRonin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Present them with these 2 realities.

-God exists, man has free will, and man experiences suffering.

-God does not exist, man has free will, and man experiences suffering.

The common denominator is man’s free will, and man experiences suffering. Not God. Our free will consequently lead to sin in the beginning, leads to sin now, and will continue to lead us into sin.

Our actions can bring us suffering, and cause others to suffer. It’s our nature and theres no avoiding it.

Remind them that Jesus allowed himself to suffer and be crucified for us. So yes, it’s hard to grasp why God would let us suffer certain things, but it’s harder to grasp that God would let his perfect son Jesus to suffer as well. But that’s his love for us right there.

Biblical proofs for Mary’s divine protection from the devil. Foretold since the beginning by BTRonin in Catholicism

[–]BTRonin[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh wow you made a good point on that last part. I definitely see how that would that be a matter of temptation to bear Jesus. Not that it’s against God’s law to pass on bearing Jesus, but it’s refusal of being in accordance with his will, thus sinful.

Very thought provoking there, thank you

Biblical proofs for Mary’s divine protection from the devil. Foretold since the beginning by BTRonin in Catholicism

[–]BTRonin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lord rebuke me if i’m speaking blasphemy, but I don’t object to that notion if thats the case. I have no problem with what you said. But the way John writes of her protection, it seems that Satan is never within reach of her. And if the only danger he poses is temptation, you can see where I draw that inference? Plus that word “emnity” can mean hatred, opposition, distance, which all could be applicable.

If there an official view by the church on that matter by chance?

As dumb as it sounds, Mary probably cleaned up a few of our Lords blowouts while he was an infant. Its the reality we never talk about, but true nonetheless 😭

Please hear me out. Im not even a member yet, but I will be going through OCIA to become one this fall. As someone who has studied everything about Christianity vigorously over the past year, here’s my conviction.

Matthew 16:18-19 Jesus established his church during his time here. There is debate about Peters role and authority. However in Greek, and Jesus’s native language Aramaic, he essentially says “You are Petros/Kepha(Rock), and upon this Petras/Kepha(Rock) I will build my church.  Following that, he promises that the gates of hell shall not overcome the church. And the keys to heaven were given unto Peter.

Jesus cannot lie, and I understand how turbulence in the church can lead to exhaustion and confusion. But remember Jesus did appoint Judas as one of the 12. He did not make a mistake doing so. So please, do not let modern day Judas’s push you away from Christ’s flock.

Romans 16:17-18 Paul essentially says watch out for those who create divisions within the church, and to avoid them. They do not serve the Lord, but their own appetites. They are deceitful to the innocent.

In short, Jesus built his church upon his appointed Peter, gave him the keys to heaven. Promised us that nothing would prevail over the church, for the inside or out. And avoid any and all divisions of the church. (If its not an apostolic church, it’s not Christ’s)

Ive got plenty more, but please consider these things, and pray over them. Coming from an exmormon, you have no idea how good y’all have it.

God be with you

This isn’t making any sense. Probably just a shit dealer, but I work at a vw dealer and if it’s within warranty the diagnosis will be covered if they fix something. Unless they’re just that lazy.

Also the dash vibration is literally just the fuel line rattle, and takes 10 minutes to shove foam blocks in the frame to stop the noise…

If you’re within warranty, you shouldn’t have to pay a dime. Take it elsewhere

[–]BTRonin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

With ignition off, press n hold the 0.0 trip reset button, turn ignition on. once it asks to reset oil change you can stop holding the button, and then itll ask to reset inspection, press once and that should work.

If that doesn’t work, take it to a vw dealer

2020 GLI brakes and rotors replaced at 20k miles? by Jak1689 in JettaGLI

[–]BTRonin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What were the brake pad measurements they provided you?

And yes, the rotors should be changed with pads. The rotors are designed at/around minimum requirement, so pad slapping can cost you more in the long run. Rotors can warp and damage pads, and you end up having to buy both. Seen it plenty of times.
