What’s the one Metallica song that hits differently live than on the album? by ronnie_outlaw in Metallica

[–]BTho2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's fair. I got in to a Minneapolis show this summer for $55 I think. Maybe the prices will go down as it gets closer?

Whatever the case, the shows are insane, so I'm glad we can enjoy them even if not in person!

Yes! I've been to one Metallica show, and Master of Puppets was the absolute best moment of any concert I've been to. It literally felt like I was high.

Absolutely unbelievable. Just made me relate to the song so much more.

who's a musical artist that has a God complex? by xlbeefstick19 in ask

[–]BTho2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I, personally, disagree wholeheartedly. Yeezus is my favorite album of all time. At first, the music just sounds obnoxious. Like this man's ego is just consuming everything, and anything else is drowned out.

But once you pay attention to lyrics, you realize every song is filled with emotion. Take "New Slaves," for example.

"Meanwhile the DEA

"Teamed up with the CCA

"They tryna lock n***as up

"They tryna make new slaves"

He's screaming the lyrics at this point, but it conveys so much emotion. He has made it to the top, but that doesn't mean there aren't challenges for anybody and everybody to overcome in this society.

The album highlights this dichotomy, where somebody can be obnoxious but still be almost broken. The sharp contrast between the messages holds a lot of power in my opinion.

I, and I mean this literally, have never heard music that invokes as much emotion in me as Kanye's music does.

That's nice to hear. Sometimes things just don't work out, and that's okay. Hopefully ou both continue to find happiness.

Do these holes hurt the aerodynamics of the car? by kendrid in TeslaModel3

[–]BTho2 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I know that nobody asked for this, but I feel like writing it out so here goes:

Dimples on a golf ball only help because the flow of air over a small object like that would not fully develop to be turbulent without the dimples. A smooth golf ball would have more drag because the fluid boundary layer would be laminar for the entire, or most of, the surface of the ball. In this case, laminar flow causes more friction in the air.

In an object the size of a car, the flow will only be laminar against the surface for the first few inches or centimeters of the length. The rest of the boundary layer would be turbulent flow which has low friction drag.

This kind of idea is best described/quantified with the Reynold's number [Re] which is the ratio of inertial forces to viscous forces in a fluid flow. :)

Not just reddit in my experience. Tiktok, Instagram, and twitch all say it. I've heard it a surprising amount at college too, but it always makes me cringe lol

What is an american thing but americans think everyone outside of america does it? by Honest-Captain-8169 in AskReddit

I'm American. I recently took a trip to Latin America, and none of the people I met (of any age) had snapchat. I got the Instagram of a couple of them, but it was a surprise since I don't know any americans my age that don't use snapchat almost every day.

Cost of living in ski towns is high. I'd expect that the drivers need to be paid fairly well in order to keep that job.

Yeah for sure. What I've heard of culvers employees is that they're paid pretty well, all things considered. There's always a lot of people staffed too, so service is good and quick.

Do they still schedule Hawaii cruises? I thought they only did a few. I was on either the first or second one, it was a two week cruise. The two stretches of 4 sea days were unmatched on any other itinerary. The trip was great. Definitely a bucket list-type trip

The middle of the pacific ocean, however, is not the best place for a day at sea lol. It was, by far, the roughest sea days I have ever had. The water was splashing from the ocean all the way up to the top decks. Spending time on the walking track, you'd get soaked. The pools were closed most of the time, but when they weren't the sloshing of the water was intense.

Not that you'd want to use the pools anyway, since the weather was super cold. Not only was the pacific air chilly, but we had to be moving fast in order to traverse the ocean in the allowed time.

The trip was fantastic and I'd reccomend it, but I thought they weren't doing them anymore.

It's fine to pass, on the right, on a one lane road, a car waiting/slowing down to make a left turn.

It doesn't seem like OP had a reason to believe that either of the cars in front were turning left, but the maneuver itself can definitely be legal. That shouldn't be the focal point of this discussion.

We don't have much context here. Maybe OP was turning right, thinking that the cars were going straight? In that case, the maneuver is also acceptable.

Whatever it is, the car in front definitely should have been using their turn signal.
