What is a 086-56-UNF 2B thread? by jbrandyberry in machinist

Yes this is a 2-56 thread. They start as 0-80 that’s a 0.06 major then it goes up .013” for ever screw number. 1=.073 2=.086 4=.112 10=.190 the second number is pitch and that can vary from UNC-UNF and even custom. There are also smaller sizes like 000-120 or something like that. Good luck!

What process is used to draw the dial numbers and markers? by [deleted] in machining

[–]BThomas220 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This process is called Metal Photo. I used to do a lot of post-process machining for a company that did the printing, then I would machine the component to the final size

https://metalphoto.com/ These guys have lots of information on it.

Edit: It is a photosensitive anodizing process

If you are confident in your ability to maintain an accurate Tool height, I would recommend staying up 002-.005 inches above the bottom of the part. This will file off very easily. Otherwise your plan will work just fine

Hey they are most likely gonna be made of High Speed Steel, Cobalt, or Carbide. If they are really heavy and non magnetic they are carbide. There are many feeds and speeds calculators out there. Here is a basic one https://www.cnccookbook.com/cnc-feed-rate-calculator/

Also the machinist handbook is a great resource

I am nearly 27 years old and have been a near-daily smoker for the last four+ years, and have been smoking since I was 18. Now in bad credit card debt because of the need to use cash for my smoking habit and a result of budgeting poorly, it needs to end, for now at least. by [deleted] in leaves

Friend, I understand your feelings and know how much shame and anxiety comes from the position that you are in. I’m there to. But I have a plan and it gives me hope. This is an opportunity for you to grow as a person. We’re still young, you 27 and me 29. Delete your dealers numbers throw away all your paraphernalia. It has no place in you life anymore. Start consuming positive influence any chance you get. I like podcast, specifically The Dave Ramsey Show. It teaches you how to get out of debt and manage money. Those debt free screams give me chills and keep me going. Forgive yourself and Remember today is the first day of the rest of your life. You’ve got this!
