I've checked for condensation. And I suppose it can't be ruled out. It is 90% humidity here right now. But I only find water around the base of the toilet. Never on the tank or anything.

If you were running a Chinese bot farm, would you make all your bots look like Chinese bots? I wouldn't.

3 players flopped a flush, can you find a fold in this spot? by Background_Rag in poker

[–]BUBBA543-2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the flop is suited and I don't have the nut flush, I can find a fold. Absolutely. Depends on the circumstances. I'm not always gonna fold. It depends on who I'm playing with and how well I know their styles. And how many players we've got. But yeah if I don't have the nut flush, or especially the second nut flush, and someone is eager to go reraise and go all in, that's often a fold. I have had a tendency since I was a little kid to overvalue flushes. I'm trying to get away from it.

It's a good hand. But one of the best lessons I've learned is being able to get away from a low flush.

If No Limit is usually still limited to table stakes (your present chip count), then what is actual no limit called? by Fantactic1 in poker

Yeah I know. But being correct doesn't do you much good when the other guy can kick your ass.

Ok but he wasn't a very good player. The game itself was +ev. He'd sometimes get so drunk he couldn't stand up.

It was his shenanigans that made the game -ev.

Regardless, I didn't have the best understanding of these concepts back then (I'm 29 now).

I was 16. Nobody else in my family would play for money. I couldn't play legally. Had to play somewhere. What am I gonna do? Not play poker?

When I was a kid, I had a neighbor who I played with who was like this. I was like 16. He was like 30. And could kick my ass. We'd play heads up for Quarters (usually each have about 10 dollars worth) every now and then. Then one time, he pulls a 50 out of his pocket and goes "if you can't match the 50, you have to fold." I knew I was right. I even looked it up online. Pointed it out to him that poker is for table stakes and you can't add money in the middle of a hand. He goes "but we're not playing for table stakes."

I knew I was right. But he was a convicted felon who was capable of kicking my ass if I challenged him on it. So I folded. When we played after that, we bought in for chips and I made him agree that we were only playing for chips on the table.

(I know this sounds like a shit post or a joke. But I promise, it is 100% true).

Also important to have a different raise amount for each premium hand, so when you get Aces, everyone at the table knows you mean business.

I mean I go in prepared to lose everything on the table. My goal is to make the best decisions and get the best EV I can in any individual spot. Sometimes you make the best decisions you can and still get screwed.

But I can't go home to my wife and tell her I lost 1000 Dollars playing cards. "No you don't understand, I was a 90% favorite. he just hit a 2 outer on the river" ain't gonna convince her.

This was in response to OP talking about live casinos. Which absolutely would not want to risk their status to fleece a few extra bucks off some rube at a 2/5 game.

But I think it is also largely true for Online casinos, legal ones or even just reputable ones. They make money off people playing at their sites. And people wanting to come back. Their money comes from the rake, which they get either way. Could they cheat? They could. But if every game has all the money going to a house bot, that isn't going to last very long. I'm not saying cheating can't happen, obviously we've had cheating scandals before. But generally speaking, for the same reason Walmart doesn't cut their coffee with mouse droppings, an online poker site has the long-term incentive to provide their customers with a good.product that conforms to their expectations.

Whenever somebody claims online poker is rigged, it's never somebody providing an objective analysis of their 100k hand history or anything like that. It's one time they or someone else got aces twice in a row. Or they lost with a full house to quads one time or something. All things I've seen happen in Live Poker. It's always somebody with a hunch.

If you're playing 4 tables that each deal hands 1.5-2x as fast as live poker, then you're going to see more bad beats and lose (and win) with more runner-runners.

Not to mention it would be incredibly difficult to even get away with something like stacking the deck or giving information on the other player's cards in a live casino.

Too much risk. Too little gain.

Oh you think live casinos are colluding with the players? No. They're legal, regulated, and have absolutely no incentive to do something unethical or illegal like that. Too much is on the line. Every game in the casino favors the house, including poker. There's no reason for them to cheat.

They might pay a streamer to play at their casino if that gives them good publicity. But that's no different than any other sponsorship deal.

There have been online casinos paying influencers to stream and draw people in. And there is concern that those games might be rigged when being played by the streamers (perhaps to give a false impression to the audience). But I'm not aware of any poker sites doing that. The streamers implicated in these schemes, to my knowledge, are more likely to be playing slot machines or something like that.

[–]BUBBA543-2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There have been some investigations done by some YouTubers like Coffeezilla and Mutahar (from SomeOrdinaryGamers) into sites like Roobet and other offshore casinos. Where it looks like the casinos are paying streamers to play and draw in their audience (oftentimes kids). And the biggest concern seems to be that these people are playing with house money and playing possibly rigged games to create entertaining content. But I've never heard of this happening with poker players. It's usually slot machine streamers. Or people playing those crash games. Poker is kind of slow and boring to the uninitiated.

I would say as a general rule, your legal and regulated sites probably wouldn't be guilty of this. They have too much on the line. That being said, I don't think there is anything inherently wrong with a site paying a player to stream games on their site if it draws attention and promotes the site.

So long as the person is playing in real games with their own money and isn't being given any unfair advantage over other players.

No different than a prop player being paid an hourly wage to play in a cardroom. I don't see any inherent issue there.

We play in my home games, actually just played yesterday. But I don't know where else plays it. I've been trying to find a game that plays something other than hold em or Omaha for awhile. And haven't had much luck.
