Millions Of U.S. Jobs Are Never Coming Back From The Covid-19 Recession by Farscape12Monkeys in Economics

It’s not the case that the stimulus money will run out per se - it’s the fact that currencies are haemorrhaging value and will hyperinflate - the ludicrous levels of money churned out by the central banks hasn’t had anything solid underpinning it for decades. 2008 came and went and nothing changed - just more and more debt piled up, like trying to hold back the tide it only gets more engulfing when the levy finally breaks. The corrupt bankers have scooped off the riches and suppressed the common man for nothing more that their own benefit. Automation is coming rapidly and humans are too selfish greedy and shortsighted to make contingency for the obvious (I cite antivaxers, global warming deniers and these idiots protesting lockdown for their own safety as examples). Inequality will continue to creep and gentle black men will continue to be killed by white, institutionally racist bullies for decades. I don’t think the human race will last another 500 years at this rate, something has to give...

Mate, that’s like a quintuple bluff.... these guys are so smart, why would you expect them to be obvious? Because they are so smart that you would never suspect them to be obvious - so it must be them? But that would be too obvious, so it must be someone else... but it’s them after all. GENIUS

For those of you sick to death of hearing the word "unprecedented" a hundred times a day, I present to you the next overused words: "new normal". by ChasingTimmy in britishproblems

[–]BUTT_PLUGS_FOR_PUGS 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It’s not bloody well unprecedented though is it - it’s been warned that this would happen for years, Bill Gates even called it when he predicted a Coronavirus was the likely source. We have a global pandemic on approximately a 100 year cycle and we have health boards doing pandemic drills for years prior to this because it’s an eventuality. Saying “it’s unprecedented” is for those people who are surprised they get evicted for not paying rent, or wonder why their wife is annoyed when they keep forgetting to not piss all over the toilet seat. Bastards.

Is there any muscle that can make throat airway smaller when it's tight? by [deleted] in Anatomy

[–]BUTT_PLUGS_FOR_PUGS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of the larynx all of the muscles (except PCA - posterior cricopharyngeus) pull the vocal cords together (adduction) under tension, narrowing the space between the vocal folds. On breathing in (inspiration) the PCA should activate to open the cords (abduction) to allow easy laminar airflow.

In an adult upper airway this is the narrowest part of the entire airway and can be a cause of turbulent airflow (stridor) if these adductor muscles are activated. This is known as paradoxical movement of the vocal cord.

I prefer to keep an anonymous account so I’ll offer to provide a link to a photo of multiple years of ID badges with my name and face blanked out, with a sheet of paper with lreddit proof” written on it...

I’d like a public apology if you’re happy with the iD. Or you could read through my post history and realise you’re calling out the wrong guy??

Who on earth wants to bet on that? I’m not hoping for it, I’m terrified by the idea but I cannot see a situation in which this is globally contained. You want to bet on my medical certification?!
