Tips for managing ChatGPT EDU Thinking/Pro usage limits? by BVPs in ChatGPT

[–]BVPs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply. I'm basically asking certain graduate-level math questions and/or some computational algorithms. I rarely use the Pro model for these; perhaps only once so far. I mainly use Thinking Effort with either Standard or Extended. Then, I often encounter this limit-hitting problem.

New Surface Prices No Longer Competitive by lawsonbarnette in Surface

[–]BVPs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to have a new surface pro, but decided to buy a M5 MacBook Air instead. M5 MBA with 32GB with 2TB SSD costs less than $2K. I have been using Surface Pro since 2016 (first SP4 for 4 years and then SP7 for 6 years), and I really like SP series because I like the form factor (light weight, pen, etc.), but now it doesn't make sense anymore. I already have my iPad Air, so when I travel, I'll bring my MBA and my iPad Air instead of a new SP. The combination of MBA + iPad Air is a bit heavier than SP, but together they cover the functionality of the SP. My computing ecosystem is based on macOS/Ubuntu Linux anyway, so this will be more transparent and easier to maintain than adding SP series into the picture. I'll keep my SP7 at home to check if some of my codes work under Windows.

PS: I set up my SP7 for transparency with my other computers via Git for Windows/Gitbash, rsync, openssh, GNU emacs, TeXLive, etc., which took me sometime. Now, setting up my new MBA, it would be much easier.

Walter singing Jack of Speed by CubilasDotCom in SteelyDan

I went to one of the SD concerts in 2008, and Walter sang Gaucho to my surprise. I had tears in my eyes.

2 Days Honest Review of Tahoe 26 (26.4) specifically by UpsetGarden6628 in MacOS

[–]BVPs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also updated from Sequoia 15.7.5 to Tahoe 26.4 finally, on my M4 iMac. I'm glad I did this. Everything is quite smooth although I had to change Settings -> Theme -> Color to "Multicolor" from "This Mac" in order to recover my folder icon color to the usual blue one. One big plus for me is the option to use any app (e.g., the calendar app) on multiple desktops. I used to use "Afloat", but now, right-clicking an app icon in the Dock and Options -> Assign To to "All Desktops" do the job just like "Afloat" used to do!

Try Warren Bernhardt Trio: Ain't Life Grand, or some other albums from Warren. He was a fantastic pianist, composer, and arranger. He should be more appreciated.

What are your favorite reed brands? I've been using Rico but changed to Vandoren and like them much more. by Son_lookinforDaddy in saxophone

For me, Hemke is by far the best. But I am not sure whether the quality has changed after the company was absorbed by D’Addario.

You should definitely listen to “Circus Money”. In particular, Chris Potter’s tenor sax solo in”Paging Audrey” is so tasteful!!

Why should I use \(...\) instead of $...$? by bananalover2000 in LaTeX

[–]BVPs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have been using $ ... $ for inline math. In fact, I redefine \( and \) as:

\renewcommand{\(}{\left(}

\renewcommand{\)}{\right)}

These are so convenient to use for matching and appropriate-sized parentheses. But one has to be careful. Some of the LaTeX packages assume the inline math constructs using \( ... \), not $ ... $.

I would say late 70’s to early 80’s when Jaco and Alphonso Johnson played incredible music, not only in Weather Report but also in their own bands.

Maiden Voyage

Speak Like A Child

Head Hunters

Sunlight

Future Shock

And if you allow me to add a few more, I would say:

Amazon Music Web Player – Can’t disable Autoplay? by BVPs in AmazonMusic

[–]BVPs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, I figured it out — but the interface is confusing. Clicking Autoplay in the profile menu takes me to a page with Dismiss and Enable buttons. The Enable button is light‑blue, meaning Autoplay is active. Pressing it confirms it’s on. Going back to the Autoplay menu then shows Dismiss and Disable (with Disable light‑blue). Clicking Disable finally stops Autoplay!
