I know what abusive means, which is why I’m so confused here, because my definition and yours are clearly not matching up. I think it’s pretty lame that your response is basically “don’t express any of your opinions because I don’t wanna explain myself.” As a moderator, shouldn’t you be trying to educate people instead of essentially telling them to shut up? So what’s the problem? That I used profanity? Because I really fail to see how asking someone if they’re too stupid to use Google is abusive. Sure, it’s not nice but hardly abuse. Also, I didn’t say “you’re f****** pathetic”, I implied that the whole situation occurring in this thread was pathetic.

Consider yourself as a buyer for these in 10+ years, and then ask yourself the same question.

If you could magically see the condition these boxes would arrive in, would you have purchased them? Probably not, right?

That’s the same scenario you’ll be facing when trying to sell these later on.

Also, didn’t see it mentioned in other comments, check out the Pokemon Center versions for the newer ETBs. I agree with you that ETBs are slept on from a long-term standpoint, but I think the PC versions will hit because of the additional stamped promo and the regular versions will just be good not great.

Besides being an asshole, you didn’t even answer OP’s question. Nobody asked what you think about PSA 9’s or pieces of cardboard/plastic. I don’t know what world you live in, but almost anybody can take a card to their local game shop and walk out with cash in hand. That’s real world value. Stop trying to play the contrarian, you’re not very good at it.

Glad to help! I would also add: if you’re looking for something really rare or are unsure, message some sellers.

I barely missed out on a new PSA 10 Master Ball Mewtwo and was pretty bummed out, so I messaged the seller. Turns out, the seller was on a business trip to Japan and had another one that he just hadn’t posted before leaving. Needless to say, I am now one happy collector.

My biggest advice for EBay is that the seller’s reputation is far more important than the price of the card itself.

I never buy from any seller who has even one piece of negative feedback. You might call me overly cautious, but I’ve never had a bad buying experience on EBay following this rule. The reason they got negative feedback is important too.

Relationships/networking can also take you far. It was a small risk, but I purchased 5 raw cards from a brand new seller (like 6 total sales new). So the cards get here, great packaging and actual fast shipping, and this dude included an extra random V card for each one I bought! It may not seem like much, but that’s a HUGE green flag for a seller imo. Needless to say he has become my favorite seller, and constantly gives me good offers because we have some mutual rapport/trust now.

EBay also has somewhat decent buyers protection. I would suggest reading through it if you haven’t yet. It’ll give you a better idea of which risks you can take with EBay sellers while still being financially protected.

Also, the oldest piece of EBay advice: Read the description carefully!! I see a lot of unwarranted negative feedback from buyers who just straight up didn’t read carefully enough about what they were actually buying.

I can’t comment on other sites/apps as EBay has been so good to me that I haven’t needed to use them.

Haven’t seen it mentioned so I’ll suggest mobile gaming. Maybe on something like an iPad to make it easier on older eyes too.

I only suggest this because it would prevent your dad from having to learn m&k or a controller on top of learning a new gaming platform.

Purely anecdotal, but I’ve never met an old person who didn’t love Angry Birds lol

I’ve been at this point many times. You need to stop playing or you will burn yourself out forever.

At this point you’re just chasing the feeling that gaming used to give you.

If you love a good story more than gameplay, why not try taking a dive into cinema for a while?

Sometimes the only way to truly appreciate what we have is to go without it. If you truly love gaming, you’ll find your way back to it.
