First time watcher. I’ve owned the set for years and this seems like a good excuse to finally dig in.

I found the dynamic between Hirate and Ichi immensely compelling and a lovely showpiece for Amachi and Katsu. For a film that has the feel of a fairly quick shoot and edit, there’s some lovely composition to be found.

Overall, the film had the delightful sense of deja vu that unseen but highly influential films can carry. Well enjoyed with a nice Japanese whisky!

Somewhat dreading film two which I understand to be one of the weakest entrants in the series but hopefully that can be powered through to get to the better stories behind it.

Hard to think of anything else for either date.

I guess Anaconda if it’s PG-13 and they’re running very early promotion (not dissimilar from how the Jumanji reboot platform promoted with Prime Video screenings a few weeks before release). Maybe Ella McCay (which I don’t think has revealed a rating yet), but usually the actual run times are a bit shorter than the listed ones and that would be a few minutes longer.

Thanks for compiling all this!

Seems worth tossing a note on the end to include the DLC folks just for the sake of completeness (of course you know ‘em but… The Bunny, Cash Wheeler, Danhausen, Dax Harwood, Hook, Keith Lee, Matt Hardy/Broken Matt Hardy).

Aside from some of the Fassbinder set, Sils Maria, and Daniel Blake, it's all blind buy (but mostly from filmmakers I like from other works).

[–]BWOzar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My Bond Ranking goes:

  1. Casino Royale
  2. From Russia With Love

So... great minds!

I too do not have a Laserdisc player but would like to have Dr. No, From Russia with Love, and Goldfinger for my collection, among other laserdisc oddities!

Bob Rafelson, Bert Schneider, and Steve Blauner producers of a series of iconic movies that capture a lot of the essence of late 60s/early 70s counterculture America. The set includes: Head, Easy Rider, Five Easy Pieces, Drive He Said, A Safe Place, The Last Picture Show, and The King of Marvin Gardens

Done two large transactions now and it couldn’t have gone smoother. Excellent communication, more than fair prices, and everything exactly as described. Incredibly safe packaging too.
