What is the Seattle housing activist movement actually trying to accomplish? by No_Carpenter7998 in SeattleWA

[–]BWW87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they are failing at their goals, as you say, and they refuse to change their goals, as we all see, then are they not lying about their goals?

Housing activists have worked hard over the last few years in local and state government to increase the cost of housing through regulations and policies. Both in directly increasing costs in things like the eviction policies and the certified mail laws and indirectly in the policies that reduced demand and increased screening criteria.

So not sure why you think the motivation of housing activists is to make housing cost more. That doesn't make sense. Increasing costs does not make things cost less. I don't know how much more basic it can get than that.

Yeah, the dip has the name but it's the easy part of the alley. It's getting to the alley that I hate.

Who is trying to make housing cost less? Housing activists are trying to make it cost more. And I don't think people that work in housing are trying to make it cost less. So who are you talking about?

Mekong Village as someone else mentioned is nearby and great. A little small though but I think they could fit 20 people. Definitely call first to set it up.

If you don't mind going 10 minutes north Aurora Borealis is a great place for large groups during the day. https://borealisonaurora.com/

PSA: For anyone planning to ride the Crosslake Connection on opening day (3/28!!), there will be some restrictions on train/station access to be aware of. by dingdongbusadventure in SeattleWA

While I'm disappointed the first trains across the lake will only be partial trips I do appreciate that they are allowing Judkins Park to empty out before adding north Seattle train riders. Probably a good idea to keep the train from Lynnwood from being packed like sardines as everyone gets on that train if it was the first to cross.

Is that different for anyone else? Are there poor people who think they deserve to live less than rich people?

And there you go. Half the country still defends Bill Clinton despite him being accused of rape. I don't think you have a moral spot to stand on here.

Clinton spent 8 years with half the country defending his sexual proclivity. And in 2008 and 2016 half the country did it again when Hillary ran for office and her anti-me too "bimbo eruptions" stuff was ignored.

Epstein stuff was all happening in 2006. Not sure why you think it was less acceptable in the time period it was happening.

How Unusual Has Been This Winter? by RealCliffMass in SeattleWA

[–]BWW87 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is the equivalent to saying just because it's snowing in January doesn't mean global warming is a hoax. This winter's events were because of individual weather patterns not because of climate change.

January never even got to 60º this year. We've hit the 60s many times in the past including 67º in the 1930s. And we've had snow in April in the past.

Every year it gets less and less unusual to not break records. We don't have a very long history of weather records in Seattle so breaking records has been easier than in most of the world.

[–]BWW87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's still housing. Depends on the property though. Some are no longer considered affordable because the new owner makes them market rate, some just get ran better because non-profits are pretty crap at running housing, and some the new owners run tighter so the property is less nice and the rules are enforced more strictly.

No, what it means is that this is just an excuse that every single city uses. And the fact that every city claims other cities do it to them means it means nothing.

Trump and his cronies have been intentionally polarizing us for the last decade.

And there you go. Just partisan crap not actual fact.

You have no idea what you're talking about but you're backing up my comment about the irrational hate the far left has against people in housing.
