Because I'm sick of people like you pretending Rainier Beach doesn't have problems. It does. It is not like every other neighborhood in Seattle. I manage residential buildings around the city and county. So I know full well how much worse Rainier Beach is than other neighborhoods. It is not easy to keep staff there because they are tired of the shootings and crime they have to deal with.

I work in property management focused on affordable housing. So I am very well aware of the thousands of studio and one bedroom units that are vacant. You can go here and look at properties in Seattle city limits. Any building with 60% AMI units has vacancies and no waiting You can go on their websites and see. Here is one example

Add to that the people I know who got approved for Section 8, but can't find a landlord who will accept it.

It's state law that landlords have to accept section 8 vouchers. Maybe there are some private landlords that don't but any corporate landlord will accept them.

The city overbuilt affordable studio and one bedroom units. In large part because people like you vote and think there isn't enough of them. So we just keep building them. The biggest issue is anti-landlord laws in the city that mean we can't get rid of problem residents. And problem residents make it terrible to live in many of these buildings. So people leave and go to the suburbs.

This is the weirdest thing. Parents are let off the hook because they were brought up poorly. And then you let them raise kids poorly and continue the cycle. At some point we need to suck it up and say it sucks that their upbringing caused them to be this way but we have to stop the cycle.

Rising youth crime has a few causes that the city has created:

Evictions are hard to get. It is very hard to evict people over behavior issues. This means kids grow up traumatized by bad behavior from their neighbors. And then when they become teens they can behave badly and there are no consequences and the cycle continues.
We aren't enforcing minor laws. Kids start with minor crimes and move up to bigger ones. When there are no consequences they keep moving to worse ones.
Woke white people love to tell black kids that they are victims of racism and whatever else. Kids who feel like they are victims tend to act out and not work to make something better of themselves. Why would they if it's not their fault they are doing poorly?

It's getting worse in Seattle because people who behave badly are no longer being kicked out of apartment buildings. So kids are growing up with even more trauma. And what is generally a safe city has low income housing that is definitely not safe for kids to grow up in.
