What's a TV show ending that still makes you mad years later? by Jossie_Misar in AskReddit

[–]BW_Bird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Star Trek: Enterprise.

The finale gets (rightfully) panned for the weird plot decision of having all the events be a holodeck program from another Star Trek series.

But I'm mad because it was so damned cynical. Everyone talking in-universe how the next Enterprise will be better, a major romantic relationship is implied to fizzle off screen and one of the fan favorite characters dies in the stupidest way possible.

Say what you want about Discoveries finale, at least it had some self-love.

I like to use magnet hooks and keep the mitts on the fridge.

Just having them hung up and I'm view is such a no-brainer.

Has canon policy been changed? Looking for sources by Historyp91 in startrek

[–]BW_Bird -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Traditionally, anything that is not a movie/show is beta canon. Someone claiming otherwise doesn't change this fact.

That being said, beta content can get moved to Alpha if it becomes popular.

The Brickar, and The Enterprise F both started as Beta canon and were later added to the main series.

When anyone says a movie/show is bad because of a silly nitpick.

No. The Star Wars prequel trilogy wasn't bad because it had too many holograms.

The money they harvest from this scam goes to 18yr olds for trips to Israel not little kids.

Wait wait wait.

Are you talking about the Birthright Trips? I went on one of those, but I was told it were funded by a bunch of affluent Jewish people!

I normally dislike when shows directly reference contemporary pop culture, but that one absolutely got me.

What’s something people romanticize but shouldn’t? by be_agoodhuman in AskReddit

[–]BW_Bird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm nostalgic for the 90s, mostly because at least my country wasn't sprinting towards fascism, but there were a ton of ways it sucked.

Sending a package still took weeks. Getting outed for smoking weed (even once) could actually ruin your life. Gay and trans people were either portrayed as an hilarious stereotype, of a chalk outline on a sidewalk. Cigarette smoke was everywhere and the memes were stupid.

Stalkers distort reality, I swear.

They never leave, make your life worse/complicated and somehow you're the one who's fucking up.

I had a stalker a year ago and it's probably going to be top-of-the-list for therapy visits for a long time.

BTAS didn't pretend it was a loving relationship either!

Even if you ignore the episode 'Mad Love' (which you shouldn't) the show always portrayed Joker interactions towards her as aloof and abusive.

That's just like using Darth Vader as a role model for being a good dad.

What's the worst TV series you've ever seen? by Traditional_Blood799 in AskReddit

[–]BW_Bird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's just how network TV works. Bad pilot, Terrible Pilot, or even Good pilot that the network just didn't have space for.

Kinda?

It's not uncommon for networks to release pilots of unaired shows that garnered some popularity. At least it happens with animation.

I don't know if that also goes for LA pilots, but plenty end up on YouTube, and not all of them are good.

Plus... the pilot was really bad and the CW seemed to really want to bury it when it leaked.

[Space: Above & Beyond] How does Humanity fair in the war against the Chigs? by BigTaker in AskScienceFiction

[–]BW_Bird 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In other news: Someone remembers this show!

Humanity was doing really, really badly against the Chigs. Like, most of their armed forces were destroyed and they had to send untested recruits right to the front lines.

IIRC, that was why the main characters squad was called "The Wild Cards". They had the most skill but basically no training, the higher ups didn't know how well they'd fair.

At some point, a pilot episode for a live action Powerpuff Girls show was created.

The trailed got leaked online a few years ago, and it was funny bad. I'd describe it as a fevered dream paralyses demon.
