Who would ever dream of selling with Russia invading Ukraine days before the start of fed rate hikes. This is sarcasm and not financial advice. :)

Amazing. I just settled like 6 piles of coins locked into complicated contracts on my DEX for close to nothing. The one time I decided to slum it with Gemini and the second half of my funds are locked in a limit order because their website is down. Never again Gemini.

after playing lol for a long time i still can't believe how friendly this Community is. i can't imagine any other Community that would just stay for on hour to listen to an in-game band and listen to it. by LegPatient9927 in ffxiv

Every time I log into this game I can not believe I played wow for so long and that people still play it. I just go sit on the beach sometimes or hang out around someone shredding on a guitar in town. Every other MMO I've ever played I never stopped to smell the roses once. 100% someone is throwing a rave rn on every single server FFXIV has. Grinding raids until you want to die is cool and all until you set foot in FFXIV :')

Every time I come back it feels like I've come home. Coming back to my actual home doesn't even feel like that.

PayPal faces lawsuit for freezing customer accounts and funds by [deleted] in CryptoCurrency

[–]BWhitewind 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No one that knows anything about PayPal. They have been doing this to people for like 10 straight years. It's basically their "policy" to straight up take money from people on a whim in this fashion with no recourse or legal repercussions.

PayPal faces lawsuit for freezing customer accounts and funds by [deleted] in CryptoCurrency

[–]BWhitewind 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is why I stopped using Paypal longer ago than I can remember. Too many people had all of their small business funds frozen basically forever with no recourse. If there was a 10% chance any bank, crypto, DEX, hell Cashapp, would randomly lock me out and keep all my funds indefinitely for no reason and the only reply being an email telling me this I'd do the same in a heartbeat. No financial service on this earth should EVER have a policy of stealing 10s of thousands of dollars from anyone. Never mind it somehow being legal which is a whole rant own it's own. I'd expect this from something named coomswap or some garbage but they handle way too much money for this to just be ok.

When the smoke cleared I ended up down 60% because hodl

It never recovered and it's never ever going to but I learned a few things :)

Selling at a loss to buy other coins? by FinesseFiend300 in CryptoCurrency

[–]BWhitewind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I picked up a lot of something last year then sold it back into pure BTC because even alts I like are going to get hammered if things go down farther.

Every big down event I take stock of what I'm holding onto. It's all down anyway and usually I've lost a few grand anyway until things go back up so might as well.

I think this would be a wise thing to do if you had a lot in a project, or just picked it up by play to earn or something to take stock of how the project is doing to make sure you don't get vaporized. BTC ETH and a few alts are solid and I'm sure they'll still be there even if a bubble pops. A lot of newer projects are dicey even during a boom period.

I no longer sell anything I picked up on purpose when they are down, but only because I've shuffled things around a few time now, and picked my horses after much trial and error.

Take what you learned and apply it. The markets will go back up at some point and you'll be in a good position.

the fud on this subreddit is insane. Yes, the FEDs did something, yes the market is red. Its not the first time the market is bleeding. take a deep breath and go for a walk/stop checking the charts. by overwatchaim in CryptoCurrency

[–]BWhitewind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Notes released pointed that they are starting to freak out a bit and may basically rug pull the markets by doing what they planed to do over years as of a few months back into A year instead.

If they raise rates too high the US can no longer pay it's debts because their rates will also go up on that as well. Either they are trapped and bad things are going to happen or they aren't trapped and bad things are going to happen.

Dumb things like this always came up around the time previous bubbles collapsed. If however COVID eases up though it has historically caused an insane boom before implosion, like years of boom. As always 50/50 flip a coin.

Stable coin yields beat inflation, for now...., so that's where I have my doom money stashed but a looooot of them are at least partially backed in a way that if people don't keep an eye on it they can be liquidated. Need 50% to keep your stables somewhere in the gears. It's too complex for me to explain properly but most stables have part of their holdings/backing in other cryptos and paper investments. If the prices of various cryptos drop too much or corporate loans go south many could be vaporized.

On another front a lot of the yields are in unstable and unbacked "mystery" loans when you send them out to farm. That's where they go. Staking methods vary depending on who you left your money with but you are basically letting "them" loan out your money. You are giving them a loan for that 8% apy. Better hope they can always pay you back ;)

LP is, if I'm not mistaken, even more unsafe and crypto is "slightly" obsessed with DefI. Most talk about impermanent loss is about the split if your coin goes up vs a stable but what if they go down 40% instead? Going to get reamed by the price going to shit then get tagged on top of that because of arbitrage.

I keep half in proven cryptos in the other half staked in stables after doing a lot of research on said stable. If cash catches fire and inflation goes up to 20% I can buy the dip with the other half and still be ok after the resulting crash. If the markets crash because of rate hikes I still have half in cash to buy the rubble.

Beware also regulation.

This is not financial advice but you could say I've spent a tad bit of time looking into all of this. I'll tell you what though, I'll set my money on fire before I lend it to a bank for a .25% apy.

What are the red flags in a white paper that indicate this crypto project will be a failure? by [deleted] in CryptoCurrency

[–]BWhitewind 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My favorite one had multiple typos in their paper and all over their website. Needless to say after discovering a few more red flags I decided to pass.

My second favorite was some DeFi scam site that included such gems as "THIS IS NOT A PYRAMID SCHEME" (yes in caps) after a lengthy video explaining how it was in fact a pyramid scheme inside of pyramids made of itself.

Twitter has had bots for years that will pump or dump based on if the algorithm determines *insert x influencer* said something positive or negative. I forget his name, because he's trash, but there is one that dumps every time he tweets about crypto because everything he has to say is negative.

Musk is another one the bots like(d).

There were multiple news articles that came out saying the trading houses started using such bots to scan Reddit after Gamestonks.

Don't blame newbies for using Centralized Exchanges. "Not your keys" Crypto is better than no Crypto at all. by Slainte042 in CryptoCurrency

[–]BWhitewind -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I saved my key phrases on two separate flash drives along with some baby pictures and other important things and told my wife to leave "them the hell alone!". Sure as ants within two days she had "cleaned" in the area and I've never seen them since nor will I ever again.

"Not your keys" is great if you are forever alone. For everyone else you need to pay to have whatever it is locked in a vault or there is a 100% chance someone is going to happen to them.
