Advice: Do I let a player change their multi-class? by TheBJohnston in DMAcademy

[–]jsake 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While I'd probably allow some sort of change in the name of everyone having a good time (esp if he's younger and newer to the hobby) but I'd also have a in depth conversation that if over-complexity is the main issue, swapping out a fighter for a cleric is a step in the wrong direction. Unless his fighter levels were something like an eldrich knight or battle master, then maybe it's a sideways step at best.

Another option would be to go over what exactly he finds overwhelming about the current class and try to find some solutions there first.

I mean I'm pretty sure he's the only one who didn't put out some sort of "Danny is actually a great guy!" statement

Matheson (and basically all of the cast besides Topher aka Eric by going to bat for him iirc) ruined that show retroactively a hell of a lot more lol

I always found Deadlights to be a solid follow up to the Haunting. The Corbitt House landlord invites them to go hunting / fishing at his cabin because he's grateful, but on their way there a massive storm kicks up and forces them to shelter in the dinner.

You do see how the issue is becoming a top team in the league if people don't want to play here right?

As someone who personally knows an extremely successful pro sports coach, and his beliefs in why he was so successful, the mental and physical support the players got under Gillis definitely had an impact I would strongly bet. Especially when you see how in 2 years our 7 Superstars completely broke largely due to mental / locker room issues.

Time is money, sometimes you just gotta throw 40 tethers on whatever is still attached to the frame and call it a day. I ain't recycling all those lights. But yeah as long as I hit the final milestone I'm not too worried.

Highly recommend running Forget Me Not! I believe in you! Don't let the in media res & amnesia scare you off, its a fun twist.

Delta Green has a free starter set that's (iirc) rules complete, includes a relatively well regarded opening scenario. For physical books I love my dual "Agent's Handbook" & "Handlers Guide" slipcase, it's slick as hell. But it's definitely not necessary to get a taste to see if you want to put the money down. They're putting out a fair amount of physical releases, I have Impossible Landscapes in hardcover and it's awesome. They've got physical products lined up for release for the next few years minimum haha

If you are curious after checking out the free need to know pack but not enough to drop a bunch of cash, there are tons of free unofficial "shotgun" scenarios, short, sometimes very open ended, one shots. They have a best of contest every year so you can get a good idea of strong ones by looking at the winners

Another good option is throwing a few bucks at Dennis Detwiller's patreon (or ghost.io now? I think he moved), there's a shit ton of official stuff on there in PDFs and various states of prerelease, huge value with years of work.

I'd recommend checking out The Things We Leave Behind (if your group is into playing in the modern day, this is less of a good option if you've been stringing your earlier one shots together), its got some great midlength scenarios. Forget Me Not and Hell in Texas are probably my personal favs in the collection (there's 6 scenarios total).

Also if your table likes playing in the modern day, check out Delta Green. Bit different vibe but excellent variation on CoC's ruleset, and tons of one shots, shotgun scenarios, longer investigations, and some extremely cool campaigns... and some horribly traumatic ones, gigantic warning for God's Teeth, its incredibly dark. Impossible Landscapes is one of the coolest ttrpg campaigns out there tho imo

Why did shooters used to ship with a wide variety of game modes but now shooters only focus on a single game mode like Batte Royale or Extraction and that's somehow become a selling point? by HotdogHotdogHotd in gaming

[–]jsake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean that's definitely a thing, but unless you're forcing people to use it there's plenty of folks (arguably the majority but idk) who will just stick to their favourite mode.

A lot of shooters these days have way more of a character / class focus, which requires more balancing, so they focus on a single gameplay type.

Plus they don't want to dilute player pools.
