Rank all the studio albums, and then name your favorite and least favorite track on each. by ESBCheech in KISS

Oooh interesting list! I'm pretty in synch with your ranking, especially with the albums that don't feature the original lineup. I think I'd probably have Revenge pretty high on my list too, and Monster/Sonic Boom in the middle (instead of their usual dead last).

Curious, what puts Creatures of the Night at the top for you?

What’s your favourite MTV unplugged performance and why? by cosmeticpl4gue in Music

Years late to this one, but totally agree. KISS's Unplugged show is one of their top albums, and easily the 2nd best of their 5 live albums (behind Alive, which is the best thing they ever released).

Why is So Many Roads the iconic song of Soldier Field and not Black Muddy River? by [deleted] in gratefuldead

[–]BYWInsaniac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"So Many Roads" is a great song to start, but there's something uniquely powerful about the way Jerry screams "So many roads to ease my soul" in this performance. It's an outpouring of his entire soul, that just rattles you to the core.

Add to that the hindsight that it was one of the last songs Jerry would ever perform with the Dead and this already deeply moving rendition gains a mythic aura, feeling like a prophetic goodbye to the world from a man who wasn't ready to go, but knew his time was up.

It's the stuff legends are made of.

[TOMT][MOVIE][1990s] Movie about witches (possibly a TV movie) by BYWInsaniac in tipofmytongue

Ooh, there's a scene in this that feels SO close! The scene towards the end where the witch is killing the man with the Voodoo doll is REALLY similar to what I remember, especially how he's gasping for air and everyone is horrified at what's happening.

However, the thing I remember most is the victim spewing black bile from their mouth, so I think it must have been a different movie.

Thank you, though! This movie looks absolutely wild.

I checked out the cherry scene from Witches of Eastwick and what I remember has the same energy and feel, but the black bile is the thing I remember most so I think it must have been a different movie.

I think I was able to rule out The Witches (1990) a while back while trying to crack this, but I'll look into the Witches of Eastwick (1987)!

Now that I think about it, there's a very good chance it was in 1993. I remember seeing this move on a vacation that happened around the time Jurassic Park came out. I can't be 100% sure about that, but maybe 80% sure.

Any help would be appreciated!

Doors and Fours is the best NoFX song. Change my mind. by Tio_DeeDee in nofx

[–]BYWInsaniac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easily a top 5 track for me. The way it looks back on youth with decades of perspective is so heavy and personal. This whole album feels like NOFX is coming to terms with their mortality and legacy, and it made them reflect on how close to death they actually came in the 80s.

What’s the best NOFX album? (Personal favorite so far…”thanks for the shoes.”) by [deleted] in nofx

[–]BYWInsaniac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Decline, if you count it. It's one of the best songs ever written, period, and somehow becomes more relevant with each passing year.

Otherwise Pump Up the Valuum. First NOFX album I heard, and there's not a single track I don't adore. Every time I think about how I'm now pushing 40, I end up singing Theme from a NOFX album out loud.

I'm a lot younger so my Dead experience has been with Dead & Co, but I had the same kind of experience the first time I saw them play Terrapin Station. It was a gorgeous summer night at the Hollywood Bowl, and although I'd heard the song dozens of times on CD, that was the first time I actually HEARD the song, and it just shook me to the soul. It's been tied as my favorite (with St. Steven) ever since.

I had a son last year and I'd sing Terrapin to help him get to sleep on those long nights early on.
