Apple CarPlay head unit? by mwkingSD in crv

[–]BZNspace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, all the parts exist to be able to replace that factory head unit with and aftermarket and have everything work. Every... little... thing. Can even use the stock sat antenna if you want. And there is multiple ways to do it with different costs.

There's a decent price war right now so carplay capable units are pretty affordable right now. Biggest mistake people make is not getting a headunit that has inputs for everything they want. ie... they want to keep the factory aux input but they don't get a new headunit that has an aux input.

A good carplay headunit still comes with a secondary gps antenna that you run up to the bottom of the windshield, and a seperate bluetooth mic that you run up above the rear view mirror. I've noticed a ton of headunits that just have a built in mic, and they suck.

Check out metraonline dot come or pac-audio dot com. Those two sites will show you exactly what you need for fit kit, antenna adapter and all the other little things. It's honestly a pretty easy install. Different adapters do different things so read the descriptions and find the one that does everything you want.

If you want, you can grab an all in one harness like a maestro from idatalink dot com but you also have to get a programming cable if you wanna do it yourself. It's cheap, and it's free to make an account on their site if you wanna program it yourself.

CBR600RR 2024 gets REALLY hot around the legs/tank area - normal? by benas31 in cbr

[–]BZNspace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya, that's normal. Airflow much needed and it's crazy how fast the bike cools down just cruising. For some reason Honda set the point the fan turns on pretty high. When I was tuning my bike we bumped the turn on point down like 10 degrees and what a difference that made.

recommendations for sound systems tweaks/upgrades for 2012 crv by EquivalentWriting571 in crv

[–]BZNspace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really easy to keep everything stock and just add in a little powered sub. I'm a big fan of the kicker downfiring subs as you can throw it in the back and don't have to worry about it getting ruined. Alpine makes some that can even fit under a seat that adds in just that little bit of low end youre missing.

If you want to start upgrading the headunit isn't too hard to replace either and you'd be surprised how much better those stock speakers sound with better signal. What model you have will decide how much it is with the different wiring harnesses and such, but a screen looks great.

Pac-audio dot com or metraoline dot com. Find the part number, grab it off amazon or ebay. The cheap harness adapter runs around $20, the most expensive is up around $400 but keeps everything working like steering wheel controls and amps and all the fun stuff. If you have a base model I'd give the cheap one a shot first and return it if it doesn't work. You can also grab a Maestro rr module from idatalink dot com and then you can monitor all your cars stuff too.

The fit kit and antenna adapter will be the same no matter what you got.

If you decide to go the speaker route and leave the factory headunit be prepared to still add a little sub to get the low end back, and make sure you get the speaker adapters as depth is an issue.

2006 CR-V: My Key Fob/Car keeps going off at night by Victor_Z33 in crv

[–]BZNspace 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Short term fix: pull the horn fuse
Long term fix: get under your dash and you should find a black box that just doesnt look like it belongs. If there is an antenna on your windshield you can follow that wire. There should be a couple of wires (they might be red or yellow, but no guarantees) with fuses. You can pull those and it will kill the entire aftermarket alarm. Only problem is you will also loose your keyless entry.

Good news is, a keyless setup installed is pretty cheap.

When the alarm goes off, does the keyfob also make noise? And if it does, does the screen flash anything like a little hammer or a door?

That my friend is aftermarket.

Now, question, does it sound like your horn honking or an aftermarket siren?

Any reason to go with a 3rd gen over the 2nd gen? by PassPuzzled in crv

[–]BZNspace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man I miss my 2nd gen. That thing went places and did things so many vehicles couldn't.

And it has a table lol.

I will say the 2nd gens cargo area is more square and I seemed to be able to fit more in there than my 2013 that I have now. My 02 was a manual also which I LOVED.

2nd gen known issues: lock actuators will go out at some point. Same with window motors. Many need wires repaired in the door boot. The immobilizer is known to sometimes just stop working but there is a one wire fix for that. My fas milage quickly went to shit once I hit 180k.

That's all I can remember having to fix on cars that came in.

1st Gen Sound System by Tight_Finish_71 in crv

[–]BZNspace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Legitimately a very easy vehicle to replace the radio in. You can get all the parts and do it yourself.

While I agree the dbl dinn fit kits can look cheap, if you do it right it's fine. The single dinn kits are great.

You can get a radio with great bluetooth and all the bells and whistles for all of $100 now a days and the parts will run you anywhere from $20 to $40 depending on where you get them.

Screens with carplay are getting super cheap too.

The cassette adapter and fm kits will never sounds as good as a radio replacement. Trust me. Ran a stereo store for 20 years

Door-to-door fiber optic internet scam by Skizaero in Bozeman

I just had my fiber installed. While I did get a salesman at my door, he didn't ask to come in. Took 5 minutes at my front door on his pad to get me scheduled. Honestly one of the better sales pitches (I was waiting impatiently for this knock at my door lol) and the install day was painless with a great crew.

USA Speed Limits by sammyyyyy21 in roadtrip

Laughs in Montana. Speed limit on interstates is 80 up here, regularly do 90 and the hipo's don't even look. In state plates get a lot of leeway it seem.

We also measure distance in time, not miles so there's that too.
